SMYRNA, GA, March 21, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Temba Mafico with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Temba Mafico celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Supported by 55 years of practiced industry experience, Dr. Mafico currently serves as the founder and the president of the Mafico Leadership Renewal Institute. The Mafico Leadership Renewal Institute (Mafico Institute) is passionate about the spiritual renewal and physical health of pastors and laity. To achieve this objective, the Mafico Institute coaches church leaders and laity about the importance of retreat from all care, and joining pilgrimages planned for rest, and spiritual and vocational renewal. To revitalize the church in the twenty-first century, the church leadership should renew its vision by withdrawing to a secluded place like Jesus and Moses did quite often. Jesus retreated from the people and routine to rest, meditate and pray (Mark 6:31-32 and passim). In Exodus 34:29-30, Moses retreated to Mount Sinai and when he returned to the people, the people saw that his face was shining because he had been talking with God. The congregation should regularly notice a distinctive mark on the leader's face when he or she returns from talking with God at a retreat. The leader returns with a new vision for the church and its members. The injunction for rest is repeatedly stressed in the Bible. In Genesis 2:2-3 God rested from all the creation; and Exodus 31:17b adds that God rested in order to be refreshed. The eighth commandment in Exodus 20:8 is elaborated to convince the Israelites that rest is not an option; it is a mandate to be obeyed. By means of seminars, workshops and online courses, the Mafico Institute offers lessons on pastoral care, self-identity, spiritual renewal, self-care, rest and retreats.

Dr. Mafico additionally serves as a distinguished professor of the Old Testament and Semitic languages for the Interdenominational Theological Center. Earlier in his career, he excelled as a minister and a chaplain for the United Church of Christ and Chikore High School, respectively. Over the years, he has found success with the University of Zimbabwe, the Association for Theological Schools and the Journal of the Interdenominational Theological Center as well. In addition to enjoying his role within the Interdenominational Theological Center, Dr. Mafico notes teaching at the Chikore High School, the University of Zimbabwe and serving as pastor of the Congregational Church (UCC) rank among his proudest accomplishments.

An expert in his field, Dr. Mafico earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of London, and a Master of Arts, Master of Theology and a Doctor of Philosophy from Harvard University. In order to remain aware of changes in the field, he is affiliated with the Society of Biblical Literature, the International Association for Mission Studies and the Association for the Study of Black Religion. During his spare time, Dr. Mafico has contributed to the Student Christian Movement, the Manicaland Development Associations and the Universal Evening School in Zimbabwe.
