TUCSON, AZ, March 21, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Richard Welton Coan, PhD, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Coan celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

A professor emeritus of psychology at the University of Arizona, Dr. Coan taught on campus for 32 years, beginning in 1957. Prior to accepting his first faculty position at the University of Arizona, he found success as a research associate in psychology at the University of Illinois between 1955 and 1957 and an instructor at Los Angeles City College between 1950 to 1955. As a psychologist, Dr. Coan worked tirelessly to provide his expertise to the classroom so that students could gain a greater insight into the field.

Retiring from academia in 1989, Dr. Coan has since been focusing more of his free time on writing. He has authored 10 books in total, including "Lost in Another World" in 2014, "Masculine, Feminine and Fully Human" in 2008 and "Horatio" in 2006. One of his favorite books, however, was "Hero, Artist, Sage, or Saint?," which he released in 1977. His latest book, he noted, began as something he calls relay writing, the process of starting a story by providing the first chapter and having another writer contribute the following chapter, and so on, which resulted in a short novel. Dr. Coan introduced relay writing to his local writing club, with which he has been affiliated with for many years.

Greatly influenced by Carl Jung, a Swiss psychiatrist and psychoanalyst who founded analytical psychology, Dr. Coan pursued an education at the University of California, Berkeley, earning a Bachelor of Arts in psychology in 1948 and a Master of Arts in psychology in 1950. Prior to embarking on his professional path, a Swiss psychiatrist and psychoanalyst who founded analytical psychology, he concluded his studies with a Doctor of Philosophy in psychology in 1955 at the University of Southern California. Dr. Coan has been selected for inclusion in approximately 30 editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in Science and Engineering and Who's Who in the World.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Richard Welton Coan, PhD, has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
