Quincy Murphree, PhD, Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Since 1989, Dr. Murphree has excelled as a teacher for the Kentucky Mountain Holiness Association in Vancleve, Ky. A Christian association located in Eastern Kentucky, the Kentucky Mountain Holiness Association consists of an elementary school, high school, four-year Bible college, two radio stations and a network of churches. Dr. Murphree previously worked as a technical director at Southern Institute for Appropriate Technology in Lineville, Ala. from 1980 to 1989 and as an assistant professor of physics at Auburn University from 1977 to 1980.

Always interested in doing research in physics, especially concentrated solar power, Dr. Murphree contributed to a number of institutions before entering education so that he could pass on his knowledge to the best of his ability. He also authored "A Point Focusing Double Parabolic Trough Concentrator," which was published in volume 70 of Solar Energy in 2001. He still believes that the future of his work still lies ahead of him and he is eager to take on any challenge. Hoping to be able to be a part of some of the many more scientific advances of the future, Dr. Murphree finds his current career path to be very rewarding and exciting.

Earning an undergraduate degree from Auburn University in 1967, Dr. Murphree continued his studies with a Master's degree at the University of South Carolina in 1969. Following these accomplishments, he completed service in the United States Army between 1969 and 1971. A longstanding member of Sigma Pi Sigma, Dr. Murphree concluded his academic efforts at the University of South Carolina, graduating with a Doctor of Philosophy in 1977.

Between 1973 and 1977, Dr. Murphree accepted a grant from Oak Ridge Associated Universities. In 1971, Dr. Murphree was nominated for the Gelini Medal by the U.S. Army Mobility Equipment Research and Development Center. Likewise, Dr. Murphree has been featured in several editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education and Who's Who in Science and Engineering as well.
