Jonathan A. Crystal was named one the country's Top 200 Recruiters in the United States in the book, "The Career Makers," in 1990 and subsequent editions.

Crystal with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Crystal celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. After 52 years of work, Jonathan A. Crystal is retired. Most recently, he served as a partner of Spencer Stuart for most of his 17 years (1988 to 2005) at the firm. He also chaired the firm's audit committee, and developed the firm's commodity trading practice. Mr. Crystal entered the executive search business in 1980 with Russell Reynolds Associates. Earlier in his career, Mr. Crystal joined Citibank in 1973 in New York and advanced to Vice President & Regional Treasury Manager, moving to Houston in 1977. Mr. Crystal entered the finance field as a corporate banker trainee at Chase Manhattan Bank in 1971 before moving into corporate finance in 1971 at Drexel Burnham & Lambert, Inc. Mr. Crystal started his business career as a marketing representative at Texaco, Inc. from 1965 to 1966.

In addition to his primary career responsibilities, Mr. Crystal contributed his skills to a number of related business endeavors. As a regular speaker in his field, he has been invited to speak at a number of trade organizations around the country, as well as universities including Rice University in Houston, University of Houston and the University of St. Thomas in Houston. He also served on the advisory board of the Center for Business Ethics at the University of St. Thomas from 1998 to 2000. Mr. Crystal has authored numerous articles for professional journals over the course of his career. He was also heavily involved in the development of the Houston Forum through his position on the executive committee of the board during the 1990s.

Drawn by a desire to help people, Mr. Crystal was involved in the early stages in the development of several non-profit organizations. Mr. Crystal was the driving force behind the creation and development of the Spring Branch Education Foundation with the Spring Branch Independent School District. He was active on the executive committee from 1994 until 2001 and vice-chair from 1999 until 2001. He was also heavily involved in the early development of Yellowstone Academy, funding educational material and supplies for the pre-school, as well as the majority of the tools necessary to maintain the school building while actually working on projects necessary to the school's operations.

Mr. Crystal pursued an education at Northwestern University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business administration in 1965. After spending over 4 years in the US Navy where he rose through the ranks to become the Executive Officer of the USS Duval County by 1970. He then concluded his education at Columbia University in New York City where he earned his Master of Business Administration in 1971.

For excellence in his work, Mr. Crystal has been the recipient of a number of honors and accolades. Most recently, he was presented with an Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018. He was also named one the country's Top 200 Recruiters in the United States in the book, "The Career Makers," in 1990 and subsequent editions. In light of all his accomplishments, he has previously been selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in America and Who's Who in American Education. Mr. Crystal was also featured in the 25th edition of Who's Who in the South and Southwest, and the 14th and 19th editions of Who's Who in the World.
