PEORIA, IL, March 29, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Steven J. Lichtenstein with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Steven J. Lichtenstein celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

With many years of professional excellence under his belt, Dr. Lichtenstein currently excels as the medical director of pediatric ophthalmology at the Children's Hospital of Illinois, clinical associate professor in the Departments of Surgery and Pediatrics at the University of Illinois College of Medicine and as a pediatric ophthalmologist at the Illinois Eye Center. Throughout his career, he has conducted research in the pediatric population for ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin and moxifloxacin, ophthalmic antibiotics, also for bevacizumab, used in the treatment of retinopathy of prematurity. Earlier in his career, Dr. Lichtenstein found success in private practice at the Louisville Children's Eye Specialists and as assistant professor in the Department of Ophthalmology, University of Louisville School of Medicine. He has also served administratively on the Boards of Visually Impaired Preschool Services, Louisville, Kentucky, Illinois Society to Prevent Blindness, the Peoria Medical Society Foundation, and a past president of the Peoria Medical Society. His board work continued on a national basis with the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology Foundation and a current board member of the International Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology.

An expert in his field, Dr. Lichtenstein earned a Bachelor of Arts from La Salle College, and a Master of Science in anatomy and a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Louisville School of Medicine. For his volunteer time and dedicated efforts to teachers and children, he was recognized with a Golden Apple Award from Jefferson County Public Schools, Louisville, Kentucky. Although very somber, an honor of which he is most proud was when he was requested to serve as a pallbearer for a former patient that he had not seen in over 15 years. The patient had requested that her mother reach out to him upon her passing. It was very meaningful to Dr. Lichtenstein that he made such an impact on this young woman's life, he was still remembered years later.

Looking toward the future, Dr. Lichtenstein intends to experience the continued growth and success of his career.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Steven Lichtenstein has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
