Bill Glen Roberts Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Bill Glen Roberts was presented with a John Stemmons Service Award by the Dallas Fire Department in 1979.

Mr. Roberts is a former protective services official who spent the first 25 years of his career with the Dallas Fire Department. Climbing the ranks from lieutenant to captain, division fire chief and assistant chief, he later served for 11 years with the Austin Fire Department in Texas as the fire chief before retiring in 1994. During his public service career, Mr. Roberts worked as an adjunct faculty member at the National Fire Academy from 1981 to 1986.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Roberts was the owner of Personnel Testing Laboratory in Dallas. He additionally found success in real estate, with sales for intercommunications equipment, as a field tech for IBM Corporation and as consultant for such organizations as the University of Tennessee, Georgia Institute of Technology and Rand Corporation. Furthermore, he is a longtime member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs, the American Heart Association, the Texas Association of Realtors and the Rotary Club of Asheville. Mr. Roberts was previously affiliated with the North Texas Council of Governments as a member and the regional emergency service advisory council member as well as the Foundation for Fire Safety as a member of the technical board of directors.

Locally involved, Mr. Roberts served as a committee chairman of the Dallas Jaycees, a task force member for the American Heart Association and a capitol area council member for the Boy Scouts of America. He was also a member of the board of directors for Brackenridge Hospital, the Rehabilitation Hospital of Austin and the Austin Pensions Board. Having contributed articles to various periodicals, Mr. Roberts was the author of "EMS Dallas" in 1978 and the co-author of "Anesthesia for Surgery Trauma" in 1976 and "EMS Measures to Improve Care" in 1980.

Pursuing coursework at Southern Methodist University in 1968 and North Texas State University in 1974, Mr. Roberts graduated from a paramedic course at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in 1974. He then completed the executive program for fire service at Texas Agricultural and Mechanical University in 1978 and the fire office program at the National Fire Academy in 1989. During this time, Mr. Roberts earned an Associate degree at El Centro Junior College in 1980.

Mr. Roberts was presented with a John Stemmons Service Award by the Dallas Fire Department in 1979. He has been showcased in every edition of Who's Who in America since 1990, as well as several dozen editions of Who's Who in the Midwest, Who's Who in the South and Southwest and Who's Who in the World. Likewise, Mr. Roberts accepted a scholarship from the International Association of Fire Chiefs in 1967.
