Dr. June T. Scopinich excelled in education and educational administration, culminating with her most recent work as vice president of academic affairs for San Diego Miramar College.

For more than 35 years, Dr. Scopinich excelled in education and educational administration, culminating with her most recent work as vice president of academic affairs for San Diego Miramar College from 1994 to 1999, where she was honored to become the first athletic director. At the inception of her career, she taught art at Freeport Public Schools from 1964 to 1969 and served as assistant to the vice president development of Wilson College from 1971 to 1972. During her time at the college, she also worked as a physical education teacher, and a field hockey and lacrosse coach.
Over the course of her career, Dr. Scopinich gained valuable expertise in physical education and administration through Hampshire Regional High School as a physical education teacher and basketball and field hockey coach, and the University of California, Berkeley, as a physical education teacher and basketball and track and field coach. Impressively, she also served Southwestern College as an educator, basketball coach, athletic director, dean of physical education and dean of arts and humanities. In a career filled with highlights, she is especially proud of co-founding the California Community College Women's Basketball Coaches Association, as well as being the first woman in California to direct both a men and women's community college athletic program at Southwestern College.
An expert in her field, Dr. Scopinich holds a Bachelor of Science from the State University of New York at New Paltz, a Master of Science from Smith College and a Doctor of Education from the University of San Diego. She also completed coursework in fine arts and education through Queens College. To remain abreast of changes in the field, she has maintained affiliation with the Archaeological Institute of America, the American Research Center in Egypt and the New England Antiquities Research Association.
In light of her excellence in the field, Dr. Scopinich won scholarships from Smith College and Queens College. Looking toward the future, Dr. Scopinich intends to enjoy her retirement. In addition, she hopes to continue working for her local church's thrift shop, where she sells donated artwork provided by auction houses and art galleries. All of the proceeds of the shop support local charities and is helping build a religious school in Haiti.
