Most recently Ms. Peavy has specialized in psychological evaluations on multi-handicapped students from pre-school age to age 22. Prior to her current role, she worked as a special education instructor in Gwinnett Counts Schools (Georgia) from 1990 to 1992 and in DeKalb County Schools (Georgia) from 1987 to 1990 and 1972 to 1975. Ms. Peavy began her career as a special education instructor with Smith Station Elementary School in Lee County Schools, Alabama from 1970 to 1971.
Ms. Peavy initially pursued an education at Auburn University, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education/Special Education in 1970. She continued her studies at Georgia State University, earning a Master of Education in Learning Disabilities Behavior Disorders in 1972 and an Education Specialist degree in School Psychology in 1994. Ms. Peavy has been certified as a teacher (T-5) in Special Education and (T-6) in School Psychology in the state of Georgia, as well as nationally certified as a school psychologist.
A respected leader in her community, Ms. Peavy has been affiliated with a number of professional organizations. She is a member of the National Association of School Psychologists, the Georgia Association of School Psychologists, the Council of Exceptional Children, Kappa Delta Pi, PEO sorority and Alpha Delta Kappa, an international education sorority. Ms. Peavy has also found success as a leader with the Girl Scouts of America, a guide for the High Museum of Art, a team parent for the Tucker Baseball Association, a nursery teacher with Mount Carmel Christian Church, and the chair of tutorial reading for the Junior League of DeKalb County.
Throughout her career, Ms. Peavy has been celebrated for her accomplishments.. She has accepted grants from the United States Government, Auburn University, Georgia State University, and the Gwinnett County School System. Ms. Peavy has been featured in numerous editions of Who's Who in America and Who's Who in American Education.
