Lee Meitzen Grue Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

In the 80's Lee Meitzen Grue performed jazz poetry in night clubs in the French Quarter and on Frenchmen Street in New Orleans with flautist Eluard Burt and his band.

An accomplished listee, Ms. Grue celebrates many years of experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. With more than twenty-five years professional experience, Ms. Grue was a visiting writer with Tulane University from 1993 to 1998 also serving as Editor of the New Laurel Review. Earlier in her career, she was the Director of The New Orleans Poetry Forum from 1972 to 1990. A renowned author, she wrote "French Quarter Poems, "In the Sweet Balance of the Flesh," "Goodbye, Silver, Silver Cloud" and "Mending From Memories: An Anthology." She was also the Editor of "World Port." In the 80's she performed jazz poetry in night clubs in the French Quarter and on Frenchmen Street in New Orleans with flautist Eluard Burt and his band. They made a CD of jazz poetry, "Live on Frenchmen Street" in 2000. In 1998, Ms. Grue published the novel, "Blood At The Root" with Alamo Bay Press, Austin, Texas.

Ms. Grue began her career as a student in Creative Writing at the University of New Orleans, receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts in English in 1963. After obtaining valuable experience in her field, she returned to her studies at Warren Wilson College, earning a Master of Fine Arts in Fiction. Ms. Grue was also certified as a cosmetologist in Louisiana before college.

Throughout her career, Ms. Grue has been recognized for her contributions. She received The Poetry and Short Story Award from the Deep South Writers Association and The Syndicated Fiction Award from PEN America. A grantee of the National Education Association, she was given a Fellow residency with Art Omi, formerly known as the Ledig House, and Virginia Center for The Creative Arts. Likewise she is a Fellow of The Newcomb Center for Research on Women at Tulane University. She has been featured in numerous honors publications, including Who's Who in America and Who's Who of American Women.
