An accomplished listee, James Nafziger celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Professor Nafziger holds the Thomas B. Stoel Chair of Law and is Director of International Programs at the Willamette University College of Law. He received his BA and MA degrees from the University of Wisconsin and his JD degree from the Harvard Law School. The resulting Oregon statutes were the world's first by a common law jurisdiction.

As vice chair of the London-based International Law Association, he continues his long work in that organization, having served as president and chair of the executive committee of its American Branch. He also serves as secretary of the American Society of International Law and as a member of its Executive Council and Executive Committee. His other current professional leadership includes membership on the U.S. State Department's Advisory Committee on International Law. Professor Nafziger is honorary president of the International Association of Sports Law, past president of the Oregon International Council and past treasurer of the American Society of Comparative Law, in which he continues to serve as liaison with the American Council of Learned Societies. An elected member of the American Law Institute and the International Academy of Comparative Law, he has chaired five sections and one workshop of the Association of American Law Schools.
