M. Lee Paul, EdD, Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Dr. Paul is a psychotherapist and longtime educator of nearly 40 years. An expert in anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder in adults, he established his own private practice in psychotherapy and counseling in Dallas, TX, back in 1982. Teaching as a professor of psychology at Amberton University in Garland, TX, since 1980, he also was an associate professor of psychology at Southwestern Christian College in Terrell, TX, from 1991 to 2002. Furthermore, Dr. Paul serves as a consultant for several organizations in the area of conflict resolution. He previously spent two years as the vice president for psychological services at Security Research Consultants in Dallas from 1980 to 1982 and five years as the director of university services and research at Abilene Christian University in Dallas from 1977 to 1982.

In 2018, Dr. Paul lectured on the topic of depression for the City of Gilmore, TX. He subsequently conducted a second lecture on anxiety and other anxiety disorders on February 23, 2019. He is also the co-author of the 1980 book "The Parable of a Man."

One of Dr. Paul's greatest professional achievements was when he helped establish the counseling center at Saturn Road Church of Christ. A no-fee counseling center that helps those who would otherwise not receive the assistance they need, the church accepts church members as well as members of the community that are not affiliated with the church. Dr. Paul notably serves as the director of the center and is also a deacon at the church.

Dr. Paul is a longstanding member of the American Psychological Association, the American Counseling Association and the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. He is involved locally as a member of the Baylor Hospital Ethics Committee in Garland and was on the advisory board of the RFD Television Network.

A professional musician for 13 years beginning in his adolescence, Dr. Paul performed the banjo for the first time at the age of 13. He played in shows at Six Flags over Texas in Arlington, in the Southern Palace Shows. In college, he recorded an album with the musical group Chris, Chris and Lee, and later played back-up guitar with the group Tony Orlando and Dawn.

Highlighted for his achievements, Dr. Paul was named to Outstanding Young Men of America in 1979 and as a Distinguished Alumnus by the Dallas Christian School in 1998. He has been cited in several editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, and Who's Who in the World.

Dr. Paul has held a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science from Abilene Christian University since 1974 and 1977, respectively. He later completed a Doctor of Education at Nova Southeastern University in 1986. He is a licensed psychotherapist and professional counselor, licensed marriage and family therapist in the state of Texas, and certified family life educator through the National Council on Family Relations.

Married to Stephanie Maxfield since 1994 with three sons, Dr. Paul's family is the most important aspect of his life. In his free time, he enjoys scuba diving, hunting and listening to and playing music.
