The son of an architect, Mr. Roosevelt demonstrated a keen interest in art as a young child. To prepare for his career as an artist, he attended classes at the Philadelphia College of Art while in high school. He also later studied under Stanley William Hayter at his studio in Paris, Atelier 17. He then received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in printmaking and English from Carnegie Mellon University and subsequently took a position as an instructor of printmaking at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in Halifax, Nova Scotia. During this time, Mr. Roosevelt held his first solo exhibition at The Print Club in Philadelphia, PA. Throughout his career, he traveled extensively throughout Europe, South America and Asia, including a two-year stay in Tokyo, Japan. He had solo exhibitions in Paris, Rome, Tokyo and Kobe, Japan, and Halifax and Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. Mr. Roosevelt received a Master of Fine Arts from the Tyler School of Art at Temple University in 1986.

A dedicated professional, Mr. Roosevelt served as president of Publication Services in Penllyn, PA, and as director of Ross House Studio in Margaree Harbour, Nova Scotia. He also established Roosevelt Fine Art, a company that provides a wide variety of fine art services, including restoration, conservation and appraisals. His wife later joined him in the business. As an accomplished artist, Mr. Roosevelt's work ranges from large engravings on copper to lithographs and relief prints with a special emphasis on figures and architectural themes. In 2005, he was elected as an artist member of the Society of Canadian Artists. Throughout his career, he was an artist member of Visual Arts Nova Scotia, the Nova Scotia Printmakers Association, and the Vermont Crafts Council. For many years, he was also an active participant in the Nova Scotia Studio Rally program and occasionally participated in Vermont's Open Studio program. From 2007 to 2014, he served as an adjunct professor of visual design and drawing at Lyndon State College, now known as Northern Vermont University-Lyndon.

In 2007. Mr. Roosevelt began work as a paralegal at Bucknam Black P.C. in St. Johnsbury, VT, and enrolled in Vermont's Four Year Law Office Study Program, which he completed in 2011. Subsequently, he served as an investigator and litigation paralegal for the Caledonia County State Attorney's Office, where he was involved in significant court cases before he retired in January 2019. He is certified as a personal property appraiser through the Certified Appraisers Guild of America and is a Graduate Personal Property Appraiser (GPPA). Mr. Roosevelt's appraisal experience includes fine art paintings and prints, antiques, residential contents, decorative art, divorce and estates.
