SPRING VALLEY, CA, April 08, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Patricia Coates has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

A retired lieutenant colonel and chief nurse with the 132nd Tactical Hospital of the Iowa Air National Guard, Ms. Coates has excelled in the field of nursing for nearly 50 years. At the beginning of her career, she worked with Mercy Hospital, Des Moines, IA, initially holding the post of a floor nurse. Over the years, she accepted roles of increasing responsibility, including as a nurse in the intensive care unit, a surgical nurse and a charge nurse for surgery. Following these appointments, Ms. Coates found success at the Southwest Florida Regional Medical Center, the John C. Lincoln Hospital and Alvarado Hospital as Director of Inpatient Surgery.

A registered nurse in Iowa, Florida, Arizona and California, Ms. Coates initially pursued an education at the Mercy Hospital, where she earned her diploma. She later concluded her studies at Drake University, graduating with a Bachelor of Liberal Arts in 1980. Ms. Coates credits her growth in the nursing industry to the nuns she trained with at Mercy Hospital, who encouraged her to continue bettering herself.

In order to remain aware of changes in the field, Ms. Coates is affiliated with the Association for Operating Room Nurses. For her outstanding accomplishments, she has been previously selected for inclusion in the 4th and 5th editions of Who's Who in American Nursing. Looking toward the future, Ms. Coates intends to continue enjoying her retirement and giving back to others.
