ASHLAND, VA, April 08, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Nancy Ford Schloemer with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Schloemer celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

A retired health facility administrator, Ms. Schloemer worked in various aspects of health care for span of nearly 40 years. Concluding her career as a nursing administrator in 1992 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, NC, after three years in her role, she also served as the director of nursing at Stony Lodge Hospital in Ossining, NY. Other titles she held included clinical nurse specialist, assistant director of nursing and registered staff nurse. Relocating every two years due to her husband's service in the U.S. Army, Ms. Schloemer was also affiliated with the Cape Fear Hospital and Veterans Hospital in Tuscaloosa, AL, Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City and Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC, during her first years of nursing.

Ms. Schloemer is a member of the Virginia Nurses Association and Sigma Theta Tau. Years after retiring, she facilitated and led a support group for families of Alzheimer patients in Ashland, VA, between 1998 and 2012. She continues to volunteer in her local community with various other organizations.

Growing up, Ms. Schloemer's older sister struggled with cancer. During her lengthy stay in the hospital, she was treated by some amazing nurses who left a lasting impression on Ms. Schloemer. Just 8 years old at the time, her passion for the field only grew as time went on. She became a registered nurse through White Plains Hospital in New York in 1954. She later earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the State University of New York at Albany in 1981 and a Master of Science from Long Island University in 1985. She also became a certified clinical nurse specialist and advanced nursing administrator, and became certified in psychiatric mental health.

Ms. Schloemer notably received a scholarship toward her bachelor's degree. She has since been included in the 55th edition of Who's Who in America, the fourth and fifth editions of Who's Who in American Nursing, the 25th edition of Who's Who in the South and Southwest, and the 25th edition of Who's Who of American Women.

Married to her husband James Schloemer since 1956, Ms. Schloemer and he had the opportunity to live abroad early in their marriage. A geologist before entering the military, Mr. Schloemer's career led them to the Sierra Mountains of Mexico, where they spent two years. A wonderful, yet challenging experience, there were no doctors nearby and food had to be delivered by airplane. Spending most of her time teaching and caring for people with various types of wounds and broken bones, it was an invaluable experience for Ms. Schloemer. The conditions were primitive. Her two children were with them Jimmy, age 4, and Susan, age 6 months. Three years later, Carla was born.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to her profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Nancy Ford Schloemer has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
