Wanda Jean Hess Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

An accomplished listee, Ms. Hess celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. Backed by over 43 years of practiced industry experience, Ms. Hess served as a supervisor and speech pathologist for the Philadelphia School District in Pennsylvania from 2004 until her retirement in 2013. Earlier in her career, she worked as an instructor with the State University of New York at Geneseo from 1976 to 1977, further progressing to area chair of the speech pathology department for the State University of New York at Brockport between 1978 and 1982. She excelled as the president and chief executive officer for the Northwest Hearing and Speech Center in Rochester, NY, from 1983 to 1994, as well as the director of speech pathology with IHS Nursing Home in Lafayette Hill, PA, from 1995 to 1996. Over the years, she gained valuable expertise in similar roles for DMA, Multicare and Genesis Elder Care, and Pacific Rehabilitation.

An expert in her field, Ms. Hess has held a Bachelor of Science in speech and hearing science from SUNY Geneseo since 1972, as well as a Master of Science in speech pathology and a Master of Science in audiology from the University of Kansas since 1974 and 1975, respectively. She also completed postgraduate coursework at the University at Buffalo from 1982 to 1983. To remain aware of changes in the field, she maintains affiliation with the American Academy of Audiology, the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, the New York State Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and the Pennsylvania Speech-Language-Hearing Association, among others. For her professional accomplishments, she earned grants from the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, the New York State Department of Health, and the Davenport Hatch Foundation. Ms. Hess is also the recipient of the New York State DeWitt Clinton Award.

A published author, Ms. Hess' written works include "Basic Amplication System," published in 1982, and "Staffing Procedures Manual United Cerebral," published in 1977. An active member of the community, her civic engagements include serving on the board of directors for St. Mary's Hospital, DePaul Mental Health Clinic, and the Epilepsy Association, all of which are located in Rochester, NY. She is also a certified and licensed speech pathologist and audiologist in the State of New York and the State of Pennsylvania, as well as a certified sign language expert. In her spare time, Ms. Hess enjoys sports, reading, music, and playing the banjo and guitar.
