Rev. Beebe devoted his entire career to serving the Lord

Rev. Beebe devoted his entire career to serving the Lord, beginning in 1958 as a pastor at the San Lorenzo Community Church in California. Completing a graduate fellowship in homiletics at the Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, CA, shortly thereafter, he then became the associate pastor at the Petaluma United Church of Christ in California before serving as a chaplain and associate professor at Berry College in Mount Berry, GA, until 1972. Here, he performed a memorial service for the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He was nearly killed because of his participation.
Relocating to Chattanooga, TN, Rev. Beebe began serving as a pastor at the Pilgrim Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, where he remained until 1988. When he first arrived in Chattanooga, he witnessed a great deal of racism, but luckily things began to change over the years. After leaving the Pilgrim Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, Rev. Beebe became the Associate for Stewardship Education at the Stewardship Council United Church of Christ between 1988 and 1996 before ultimately becoming an intentional interim minister in 1997.
During the mid-to-late 1960s, Rev. Beebe was active on the national commission on worship at the United Church of Christ in New York City. He later served on the board of directors of the Southeast Conference for the Church in Atlanta between 1971 and 1987 and as a moderator between 1977 and 1979. He also served on the board of directors of the Tennessee Association of Churches in Nashville between 1982 and 1985. He has been a parliamentarian for the Missouri Mid-South Conference at the United Church of Christ since 2014.
Rev. Beebe is a longtime member of the Collegium of Intentional Interim Ministers. He has been a steering committee member of the United Church of Christ Network for Environmental and Economic Responsibility since 1988, chaplain of the Clan Ross Association since 1974, and member and past president of the Chattanooga chapter of the Torch Club. He is also a former chairman of the advanced degree committee and former secretary of the Ecumenical Center for Stewardship Studies.
Involved with numerous organization in Chattanooga, Rev. Beebe notably spent five years on the board of directors of the Fortwood Psychiatric Center from 1982 to 1987, was vice president for Habitat for Humanity from 1986 to 1987, and a member of the Task Force on Human Relations from 1986 to 1987 and the Constitutional Bicentennial Commission in 1987. He also chaired the City of Chattanooga Commission on Human Rights and Human Relations in 1987.
Named Humanitarian of the Year by The Unity Group in Chattanooga in 1986, Rev. Beebe has also been showcased in the fourth edition of Who's Who in Religion and the 22nd edition of Who's Who in the Midwest.
Rev. Beebe first earned a Bachelor of Arts from Salem College in 1953, followed by a Bachelor of Divinity from Alfred University in 1956 and a Doctor of Theology from Pacific School of Religion in 1966. He was ordained to ministry by the United Church of Christ in 1959 and became a certified international interim minister in 1997. Born in Nady, AR, to Clifford Averril and Clara Gertrude Lewis, Rev. Beebe was originally inspired to go into ministry due to his father's service as a Baptist minister.
