ROCKVILLE, MD, April 11, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Saul W. Rosen, PhD, MD, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Rosen celebrated many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Rosen was an endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism specialist, who had been practicing for more than 30 years. A former research scientist and health facility administrator who was employed with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland for 33 years, he concluded his career at the research center in 1994 as the acting director of the clinical center. First hired in 1961 as a senior investigator in the National Institute of Arthritis and Metabolic Diseases, where he previously worked as a clinical associate, he also served as deputy director of the clinical center between 1984 and 1990 and acting director beginning in 1990. Outside of the NIH, Dr. Rosen spent a year as a senior researcher at the University of California Medical Center in San Francisco from 1960 to 1961.

During his tenure as deputy director, Dr. Rosen would host introductory sessions to new employees. Welcoming them to the NIH, he would speak to everyone, from physicians to the cleaning and kitchen staff, so that they all felt welcome and a part of the success of the organization. While at the clinical center, Dr. Rosen also started grand rounds, which is where employees would invite an accomplished scientist or physician to come and speak. Although it took a lot of coordination, it was very rewarding.

Early in Dr. Rosen's career at the NIH, he spent a year as a visiting scientist at the National Institute of Medical Research in London, England, between 1975 and 1976. An elected fellow of U.S. Rubber Company at Northwestern University and the American College of Physicians, he is also a longtime member of the Association of American Physicians and the Endocrine Society.

Dr. Rosen has been included in over a dozen editions of Who's Who in America, as well as several more editions of Who's Who in Science and Engineering and Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare. He holds an undergraduate degree cum laude from Harvard University since 1947, PhD from Northwestern University since 1955 and MD at Harvard University since 1956. After medical school, Dr. Rosen completed his internship and residency at the University of California/San Francisco Medical Center.

Dr. Rosen died peacefully at home on February 28, 2019.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Saul W. Rosen, PhD, MD, has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
