Charles Allan Beckwith's achievements include the initiation and coordination of the first epidemiology study of the California Indian Health status, a feat of which he is particularly proud.

An educated and qualified individual in his profession, Mr. Beckwith obtained a Bachelor of Science in psychology from Loyola Marymount University in 1962, as well as a Master of Professional Studies in hospital and health services administration from Cornell University in 1976. Subsequently, he began his career as an administrator for the Grover M. Herman Division at the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Callicoon, NY, from 1976 and 1977, further progressing to associate director from 1977 to 1978. He continued his career, holding the posts of administrator of ambulatory care for the United States Public Health Service Hospital in Baltimore, MD, a program consultant for the Office of Ambulatory Care with the Bureau of Medical Services in Hyattsville, MD, and an administrator area contractor for the Albuquerque Area Indian Health Services between 1978 and 1984. Mr. Beckwith also worked with the California Area Indian Health Service in Sacramento, CA, from 1984 until his retirement in 1996.

Throughout his career, Mr. Beckwith's achievements include the initiation and coordination of the first epidemiology study of the California Indian Health status, a feat of which he is particularly proud. A military veteran, Mr. Beckwith served as personnel and an administrative officer for the United States Air Force from 1962 to 1974. For his service, he was awarded two PHS Commendation Medals, a PHS Outstanding Service Medal, a PHS Citation, a Unit Citation, and a Decorated Bronze Star Medal. In addition to those accolades, he was also the recipient of the California Area Director's Award for Managerial Excellence, the Award for Area Office with Best Overall Performance, and the Award of Appreciation from the Federal Campaign Coordinator.

To remain aware of changes in the field, Mr. Beckwith maintains a relationship with the Commissioned Officers Association of the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, as well as the American College of Healthcare Executives, for which he served as a fellow. He has also worked on the health services administration advisory board for the School of Public Administration at the University of Southern California and served as a presenter in the field. An noted expert, Mr. Beckwith also contributed articles to various professional publications. Outside of his professional career, he enjoys golfing, gardening, traveling and studying genealogy in his spare time.
