Doris Armstrong Pryear Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Doris Armstrong Pryear is the recipient of the Black Women of Excellence Award and she also received Honorable Mention for Women's History Week and two Most Positive Soror Awards.

    AKRON, OH, April 18, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Doris Armstrong Pryear with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Pryear celebrates many years of experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. With more than 40 years of professional experience, Ms. Pryear has been retired since 1989. Prior to her retirement, she was a staff supervisor with the County of Summit Juvenile Court in Akron, OH, from 1956 to 1989, and a social worker with Summit County Tuberculosis Society from 1953 to 1956. Earlier in her career, she was girl's director at Akron Community Service Center and Urban League from 1948 to 1953.

Alongside her primary career endeavors, Ms. Pryear was a longtime speaker in workshops at the County of Summit Juvenile Court from 1961 to 1988, having also contributed her time and expertise to Habitat for Humanity, where she has been chair of the family selection committee since 1989. Affiliated with the Second Baptist Church, the Community Welfare Forum and the YWCA Residential Intervention Center, she also served as a member of the Westside Neighbors Network and trainer with the Girl Scouts of the United States of America early on in her career.

Ms. Pryear began her career as a student at Howard University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in psychology, cum laude, in 1947. She continued her studies with the university, earning a Master of Science in psychology in 1948. She has been certified as a teacher in the state of Ohio.

A respected voice in her areas of expertise, Ms. Pryear has been affiliated with a number of professional organizations. She is a member of the American Correctional Association, the Ohio Correctional and Court Services Association, and the Criminal Justice Professional Women's Association. She has also been active with the Urban League, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the Arc of the United States and Alpha Kappa Alpha, where she has been a Golden Sword and a parliamentarian since 1984.

Throughout her career, Ms. Pryear has been recognized for her contributions. The recipient of the Black Women of Excellence Award, she also received Honorable Mention for Women's History Week and two Most Positive Soror Awards. She has been featured in numerous honors publications, including the 22nd and 23rd editions of Who's Who in the Midwest, published in 1989 and 1992, respectively.
