He is a member of the North Dakota Center for Nursing Leadership team and is providing distinguished service on the North Dakota Governor's Nursing Shortage Task Force.. He has been the board director of the Alpha Eta chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International since 2015 and the Sigma Foundation for Nursing since 2017. Prior to obtaining his current role, he was a he was a board of director of the Renal Nurses Association of the Philippines in 2013. In addition to his primary roles, he served as a training specialist for research and development for Shearwater Health, formerly Health Care Corporation of America, as senior assistant with Accenture, and as a lecturer and clinical instructor at Our Lady of Fatima University College of Nursing.
Mr. Alicante began his career as a student at Perpetual Help College of Manila, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2007. He continued his studies with the University of Santo Tomas, completing candidate status toward a Master of Arts in nursing major in advanced nursing administration in 2008. He then joined the University of the Philippines, earning academic units toward a Master of Arts in educational psychology in 2013. He has been recipient of multiple leadership education grants during 2015-2017 and has scholarly publications over the past two years focusing on topics that include influence through philanthropy, spiritual climate, and patient safety. Mr. Alicante has been certified as a nephrology nurse by the Renal Nurses Association of the Philippines, and he is a registered nurse in the states of North Dakota, Tennessee, and Texas.
A respected voice in his community, Mr. Alicante has been affiliated with a number of professional organizations. A fellow of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and the International Society for Quality in Healthcare, he is a member of the American Nurses Association, North Dakota Nurses Association, American Organization of Nurse Executives, and Philippine Nurses Association of America.
Throughout his career, Mr. Alicante has been recognized for his contributions. The Honor Society of Nursing has recognized him as Heritage Society Donor and global ambassador, also giving him the Edith Anderson Leadership Education Grant, the Virginia Henderson Fellowship, the Billye Brown Fellowship and the 2015 International Award for Nursing Excellence, New Member Pillar Award. He has been featured in numerous honors publications, including the 33rd edition of Who's Who in the World.
