Mr. Marshall is a retired attorney of close to 40 years. First hired as an associate at Davies, Hardy & Schenck in New York City between 1964 and 1968, he then worked for two other firms before making partner at Kirlin, Campbell & Keating in 1973. From there he then spent 12 years as the senior vice president and manager of the estate planning department for the United States Trust Co. in New York from 1985 to 1997 before spending another four years as managing director of the wealth planning strategies group for Bankers Trust Co. (Deutsche Bank). He is an elected fellow of the American Bar Foundation.

Throughout his career, American Bar Foundation Fellow Anthony Parr Marshall lectured frequently on trust and estate matters. He also authored and co-authored many articles in various scholarly law journals. He was active with several professional organizations, such as the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, of which he is a fellow and for which he served as a member of its editorial board and editor of Probate Notes and of Studies. In addition, Mr. Marshall was a member of the organization's Estate and Gift Tax Committee.

His involvement with the American Bar Association includes as a member of the Section on Real Property and Probate and Trust Law. He served as Chairman of the Committee on Modification, Revocation and Termination of Trusts and Chairman of the Committee on Tax Legislation and Regulations as well as Interrelationship of Gifts and Estates. Lastly, he was editor of Probate and Property.

Mr. Marshall served the New York State Bar Association as Chairman of its Committee on Federal Legislation, and member of its Trusts and Estates Law Section. He also chaired the annual meeting program on applications of new practice methods and technological developments to trust and estate fields. Furthermore, he prepared for publication Estate Administration Timetables as a practice guide for lawyers and trust officers, and served as Chairman of the Committee on Estate and Trust Administration.

The New York State Bankers Association's Trust Division benefitted from Mr. Marshall's role as Chairman of its Estate Planning Committee and Chair of two estate planning schools in Albany, NY.

Past president and chair of the board of trustees of The Hospital Chaplaincy Inc. in New York City, Mr. Marshall is also the past president of The Fund for the Diaconate of Episcopal Church in the United States. He is a former vestryman and warden for St. Bartholomew's Church in New York City and for St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church in Vero Beach, Florida. Some of Mr. Marshall's avocational memberships include The Princeton Club of New York City, Seabright Lawn Tennis and Cricket Club in New Jersey and the Quail Valley Golf Club of Vero Beach, Florida.

For excellence in his career, Mr. Marshall has been the recipient of a number of honors and accolades over the years. Notably, he was the recipient of the American History Essay Prize at Phillips Academy, which is one of the top secondary school awards in the United States. In light of all his accomplishments, Mr. Marshall has previously been cited in the 58th edition of Who's Who in America and in several editions of Who's Who in American Law.

Born and raised in New York City, Mr. Marshall attended Hunter College Elementary School as a child, which requires prospective students to take an entry exam prior to being accepted to the school. By the time he was just five-years-old, he knew that he wanted to be an attorney. Later receiving a Bachelor of Arts in economics at Princeton University in 1959, where he served as president of its debate panel. He completed a Doctor of Jurisprudence at Columbia Law School in 1962, where he represented Columbia on its interschool triangular moot court competition. Mr. Marshall has since been admitted to the New York and New Jersey State Bars, the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and the Supreme Court of the United States.
