Mr. Yuspeh has been endorsed by Marquis Who's Who as a leader in the legal and health care industries

FRANKLIN, TN, April 26, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Alan Yuspeh, Esq., with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Yuspeh celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Alan Yuspeh retired at the end of 2018 as Senior Vice President and Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer for HCA Healthcare (HCA), after 21 years of service to the company. HCA is the largest healthcare provider in the United States. It owns and operates 180 hospitals and various other healthcare facilities, including several hospitals in England. It employs about 250,000 people. Mr. Yuspeh was responsible for all corporate activities in the areas of ethics and compliance with laws and regulations; for the preparation of cost reports and related activities; for HCA's interface with Federal health care programs; for information protection, including security and privacy; and for HCA's approach to sustainability and environmental issues. He was a member of HCA's senior management team and an executive officer of the corporation. HCA was named by the Ethisphere Institute from 2010 to 2019 as one of the world's most ethical companies.

Mr. Yuspeh has a high national profile in the field of business ethics and compliance. Ethisphere magazine in December 2007 included him in its list of the 100 most influential people in business ethics. Its commentary on his selection was that he had "arguably more in-the-trenches experience than any other corporate ethics practitioner." He was identified by Ethisphere as one of the foremost attorneys serving as an ethics and compliance officer in the country for a number of years. From 1987 to 1997, he served as Coordinator (Executive Director) of the Defense Industry Initiative on Business Ethics and Conduct (DII). The DII consisted of some 50 defense contractors, including virtually all of the major defense contractors. It was widely recognized as having been instrumental in creating effective corporate ethics and compliance programs. Mr. Yuspeh served in 2004 as the National President of the Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA), the professional association of health care compliance professionals. He was selected by HCCA as the Health Care Compliance Professional of the Year in 1999. The Business Ethics Leadership Alliance conferred on him its first Emeritus Award in 2019. Other professional affiliations include having been a Member of the Board of Directors of the Federation of American Hospitals and Chairman of its Health Financing Committee.

Mr. Yuspeh's career prior to joining HCA in 1997 was based in Washington, DC for 24 years. For 15 years of that time, he was in private law practice, serving for 11 years as a partner with three nationally prominent law firms. His practice while a partner was principally concentrated in the development of corporate ethics and compliance programs and in government contracts law, in addition to his serving as the DII Coordinator. As a law firm associate earlier in his career, he practiced energy law.

Mr. Yuspeh served as General Counsel to the Committee on Armed Services of the United States Senate from 1982 to 1985. He was responsible for advising the Senate Committee on legal issues related to national defense and the armed forces. Mr. Yuspeh also served as an advisor to the Committee on matters related to defense acquisition policy and was involved in the enactment of a number of legislative measures on this subject.

He also served as a member of the staff of United States Senator J. Bennett Johnston of Louisiana from 1974 to 1978. He was Administrative Assistant, or chief-of-staff; Senior Legislative Assistant; and Legislative Assistant. He primarily supported the Senator's membership on the Appropriations and Budget Committees.

He began his career as a management consultant in the Washington, DC office of McKinsey & Company. While at McKinsey, he assisted in the reorganization of the Penn Central and other bankrupt northeast railroads, worked on problems of intergovernmental cooperation in municipal service delivery, and helped to formulate national policy on wage and price controls.

Mr. Yuspeh has been active in civic affairs in his current home city, Nashville, and his former home city, Baltimore. In Nashville, he has served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Tennessee Repertory Theater and of The Bridge Program, a YMCA affiliate that assisted at-risk seventh graders in preparing to attend and graduate from college; Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Tennessee Performing Arts Center (TPAC); and a member of the Board of Directors of the United Way of Middle Tennessee, the Nashville Public Library Foundation, Nashville Public Education Foundation, Nashville Opera Association, the Urban League of Nashville, and the Arts and Business Council of Greater Nashville. He is currently a board member of the Nashville Symphony and the Joe C. Davis Outdoor Center of the YMCA, where he was actively involved in the development of an overnight camp at the Center. He is the advisory board chair of the Center for Business Ethics at Belmont University and a former board chair of the Community Advisory Board of the Vanderbilt University Institute for Global Health. He is a member of the Advisory Board of Montgomery Bell Academy. He was a participant in the 2003-2004 class of Leadership Nashville.

While living in Baltimore, he served as Chairman of the City's Board of Ethics; as a member of the City's Planning Commission; and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Baltimore City Housing Authority. The Planning Commission is responsible for numerous long-range plans, including land use planning. The Housing Authority manages all of the public housing in Baltimore City.

He previously served as a member of the Board of Trustees of St. Timothy's School, a boarding school for girls in Stevenson, Maryland; of the Board of Trustees of The Health Care Chaplaincy, a national group that promotes excellence in pastoral care for the sick; and of the Board of Directors of the American Camp Association (ACA), the umbrella association for summer camps nationally.

Mr. Yuspeh received his Bachelor's degree at Yale University magna cum laude with honors in political science and economics. He received a Master in Business Administration (MBA) degree with distinction from Harvard Business School.
