Martin H. Dickinson led a successful career in the field of community development and engagement for more than four decades.

Now retired, Mr. Dickinson led a successful career in the field of community development and engagement for more than four decades. He most recently found success as the vice president of development at the Environmental Law Institute in Washington, D.C., between 2001 and 2015, having previously served the same role with Communities in Schools in Alexandria, Virginia, from 1998 to 2001. Prior to these appointments, he was associated with the Alliance to Save Energy in Washington as the director of development between 1992 and 1998. Between 1983 and 1989, he was hired by the Service Employees International Union in Washington, where he held the posts of field representative and assistant director of political action. Mr. Dickinson later contributed as the coordinator of corporation and foundation development with the Children's Defense Fund in Washington from 1989 to 1992.

Between 1972 and 1983, Mr. Dickinson excelled as a teaching assistant at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and as an organizer and business agent with the National Union of Hospital and Healthcare Workers in both Milwaukee and Washington. In a career filled with highlights, he is proud to have raised money for children's healthcare initiatives which were the models for the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) signed into law after Hillary Clinton became First Lady of the United States. Before embarking on his professional journey, he pursued a formal education at Georgetown University in Washington, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1971. Subsequently, Mr. Dickinson secured a Master of Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1972.

Civically, Mr. Dickinson has notably contributed as the founding member of the UNICEF Mid-Atlantic Regional Board and sat as the co-chair for the Washington National Cathedral Sanctuary Committee. He also maintains a professional relationship with Samaritan Ministry of Greater Washington. A published author, Mr. Dickinson's poetry collection, My Concept of Time, was released in 2014. In light of his exceptional undertakings, he has been selected for inclusion in editions of Who's Who in America and Who's Who in the East.
