Patricia A. Medvick, Ph.D., Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Over the last five decades, Dr. Patricia A. Medvick has performed immense research in the areas of aquatic biology and scientific data collection and analysis.

Over the last five decades, she has performed immense research in the areas of aquatic biology and scientific data collection and analysis. Notably, as oceanographer she explored the role of temperature in the distribution and growth of fish, and as aquatic biologist she defined factors affecting the mobilization, transportation and bioavailability of mercury in western reservoirs. Dr. Medvick then changed course to developing software packages for automated large data collection and analysis systems including magnetoencephalography data, as well as an object-oriented database design for an automated analytical chemistry laboratory. In addition, she worked on software integration of hardware modules for mapping and sequencing genomes on the Human Genome Project,, 3D-FFT for signature direction in longwave infrared images, adaptive whitening for rapid processing of hyperspectral images, and comparative analysis of gas plume detection in simulated long wave infrared hyperspectral data cubes.

In light of the incredible work she has contributed, Dr. Medvick has been honored with an R&D 100 Award for Universal Parsing Agent and Key Contributor Awards from Battelle for contributions to IN-SPIRE and Systems Administrator Simulation Trainer (SAST) Software Programs. In addition, Dr. Medvick holds multiple Copyright Awards.

Dr. Medvick became a research professor in the department of engineering at Northern New Mexico College after serving as an adjunct professor in the department for two years. Prominent roles that have led to her success include instructor for the Evelyn Wood Dynamic Reading Institute, consultant for the Hawaiian Electrical Company, postdoctoral researcher at the Limnology Laboratory at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, adjunct assistant professor of zoology at Montana State University, assistant research biologist for Montana State University, Technical Staff Member at Los Alamos National Laboratory, president of Coyote Software Incorporated, and Senior Research Scientist for the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. Dr. Medvick's demonstrated expertise has led her in taking on career-related roles, including as a Satir Global board member, Northern New Mexico Citizens Advisory Board member, and AYE (Amplifying your Effectiveness) Conference organizer and host.

Dr. Medvick, a National Merit Scholar, holds a Bachelor of Science in general biology with highest distinction, from Purdue University, which she earned in 1970. She, as a National Science Foundation Fellow earned a Doctor of Philosophy in biological oceanography from the University of Hawaii at Manoa in 1976. She competed a Master of Science in Computer Science from New Mexico State University in 1985. To remain at the top of her field, Dr. Medvick is a member of the Computational Social Science Society of the Americas, the Society for Freshwater Science, the American Behavioral Society, the Ecological Society of America, Alpha Lambda Delta and Delta Rho Kappa.
