Accruing 47 years of industry experience to his credit, Dr. Choe most recently worked as a research professor with the United States Department of Defense at Fort Meade, Maryland, from 1986 until his retirement in 2014. He began his professional career as an instructor at Barrington College in Rhode Island in 1967, remaining in this position for three years. Becoming an assistant professor at Taylor University in Upland, Indiana, from 1970 to 1978, he was a teaching assistant at West Virginia University in Morgantown from 1978 to 1981. In addition to this tenure, Dr. Choe was a visiting professor at Bluefield State College in West Virginia from 1981 to 1983 and the Pennsylvania State University in Uniontown from 1985 to 1986.
Prior to embarking on his professional path, Dr. Choe pursued a formal education on a scholarship at Wagner College in Staten Island, New York, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in 1961. Continuing his studies, he obtained a Master of Arts from the University of Massachusetts in 1964 and, between 1965 and 1966, he was the recipient of a Henry P. Kendall Foundation fellowship. After spending over a decade in the field, Dr. Choe returned to his studies and earned a Doctor of Philosophy from West Virginia University in 1983.
A prolific writer, Dr. Choe authored the book, "Urbanization and Voting Participation in Korea (1963-1978): An Urban - Rural Comparison," which was published by West Virginia University in 1983. Additionally, he has contributed myriad articles to professional journals over the course of his career. Outside of his primary trade, he keeps updated of trends in his field through affiliations with numerous related organizations. Dr. Choe has maintained involvement with the American Political Science Association, the Association of Korean Political Scientists in North America, the Association for Asian Studies, Phi Sigma Alpha and Phi Sigma Kappa.
In light of his exceptional undertakings, Dr. Choe was selected for inclusion in the 25th edition of Who's Who in the East. Now in retirement, he resides in Maryland with his loving wife of 52 years, Hyun Joo An, with whom he has raised three wonderful children, Jennifer Choe Edgoose, Kenneth Y. and Jonathan Y. Likewise, Dr. Choe is a doting grandfather to four beloved grandchildren, Maya, Hugo, Benjamin and Katie.
