An educated and qualified individual in her profession, Dr. Bruel obtained a Bachelor of Arts in psychology in 1956 and a Master of Science in school psychology in 1961, both from The City College of New York. During this time, she served as a child supervisor at the Linden Hill School in Hawthorne, NY, from 1957 to 1959, as well as a teacher-therapist with the League School for Severely Disturbed Children in Brooklyn, NY, from 1959 to 1961. She continued her career, holding the post of teacher and therapist with the Association for Mentally Ill Children in Yonkers, NY, from 1961 to 1963 and an assistant psychology researcher with the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL, from 1964 to 1967, while attending university. After securing a Doctor of Philosophy in 1972, she served as a consultant with the Sorensen Group in New York, NY, in 1972 while simultaneously working as a clinical psychologist for the Miami-Dade County Department of Youth and Family Development in Miami until 1977.

Dr. Bruel furthered excelled as the co-director with the Center for the Whole Family, Inc., in Coral Gables from 1976 to 1979 and as a clinical psychologist with the Juvenile Court Assessment Center in Miami, FL, from 1989 to 2004, before concluding her career as the owner of her own private practice from 1979 to 2010. Apart from her primary career responsibilities, she provided her skills and resources as a consultant for the Jewish Vocational Services, as a member and affiliate staff with the Grant Center Hospital, as an adjunct professor at Nova University, and as a consultant with the Guardian ad Litem Program. Furthermore, she maintains affiliation with a number of professional organizations. A member of the American Psychological Association, she has also been a member of the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis, The National Academy of Neuropsychology, The Florida Society of Clinical Hypnosis, and the Dade County Mental Health Association, among others.

Outside of her career, Dr. Bruel's civic engagements include serving as a secretary for the Reform Democratic Club in New York City from 1962 to 1963 and volunteering with the American Red Cross in 2001. A licensed psychologist, she is also a diplomate of the American Board of Assessment Psychology.

In light of her exceptional undertakings, Dr. Bruel was highlighted in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in the South and Southwest, and Who's Who of American Women. The proud mother of two children and one grandchild, she enjoys taking care of her pets and gardening in her spare time.
