Establishing Assist to Succeed, an accelerated dental assistant training program in Willoughby Hills, OH, in 2011, he also recently founded Snoring and CPAP Solutions LLP in Willoughby Hills just last year in 2018.
Formerly affiliated as a staff member at the Pain Center of South Pointe Hospital with the Cleveland Clinic Health Systems in Cleveland, OH. Dr. Stern also spent 18 previous years specializing in temporomandibular joint disorders in Wickliffe, OH, beginning in 1975. Furthermore, he spent two years in Cleveland as an associate dentist at the Office of William Rothkopf, DDS, and one year as a staff dentist at the Office of Doctors Rhodes and Rinaldi beginning in 1972.
During his career in medicine, Dr. Stern earned the opportunity to serve as the team dentist for the Cleveland Browns football team from 2006 to 2009. He was a temporomandibular joint disorders and facial pain consultant for Bio-Acoustics in Athens, OH, and for the Sound Health Alternatives, Inc., from 1996 to 1999 and did consultant work at Richmond Heights Hospital in Richmond Heights, OH, during 1983. Dr. Stern was also a preceptorship lecturer at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland from 1986 to 1995 and an adjunct graduate lecturer at Cleveland State University from 1983 to 1984. Active in the media, he spent four years as a media spokesperson on dentistry for the show "Morning Exchange" on WEWS-TV in Cleveland from 1981 to 1985 and has been a longtime media spokesperson on dentistry for WJW-TV since 1996.
Active with several organizations, Dr. Stern was former chair of the board of trustees for the North Coast Spring Dental Meeting. A fellow of the American Endodontic Society, the Academy of General Dentistry and the International College of Craniomandibular Orthopedics, Dr. Stern is also a longtime member of the American Dental Association and the Academy of Laser Dentistry. He is a member and former state delegate of the Ohio Dental Association and a member and former public relations chair, secretary, vice president and president of the Northeast Ohio Dental Society as well. He is also a member of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine and also of the American Sleep and Breathing Academy.
The highlight of Dr. Stern's career has certainly been during his classroom years. Having students tell him that he changed their lives has been an amazing feeling. For his accomplishments, Dr. Stern has notably been included in approximately 20 editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in the Midwest and Who's Who in the World.
Earning a Bachelor of Science in 1968 and Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1972 at the Ohio State University, Dr. Stern later received a TMJ certificate in temporomandibular joint disfunction syndrome through Long Island University. He also completed a mini-residency in craniofacial pain at the Shands Hospital at the University of Florida in 1989. He is board certified in pain management through the Academy of Integrative Pain Management.
Residing in Chesterland, OH, Dr. Stern is the father of three children and grandfather of four grandchildren. When he is not working, he loves listening to music and working in his garden and on automobiles. He also enjoys traveling.
