With 50 years of professional experience, Mr. Selby has excelled as a municipal and business consultant since 1998. In addition to his primary roles, he worked for the Kodiak Chamber of Commerce as an interim executive director in 2004 and Island Convention and Visitors Bureau as an interim executive director in 2007. Serving as the regional director of planning and development for the Providence Health System from 1998 to 2003, Mr. Selby found further success as the mayor of Kodiak Island Borough from 1983 to 1998 and 2004 to 2013, for which he was also held the post of a manager from 1984 to 1985.
From 1978 to 1983, Mr. Selby was active as the director of health for the Kodiak Area Native Association. He previously maintained his involvement in health policy analysis and accountability with the Mountain States Health Corporation from 1976 to 1978, where he held a number of positions, including the director of evaluation and research from 1974 to 1976 and the director of evaluation with Mountain States Regional Medical Program from 1971 to 1974. Previously, Mr. Selby began his career as an associate engineer with the Boeing Company from 1969 to 1971.
Mr. Selby initially pursued an education at the College of Idaho, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in mathematics in 1969. He continued his studies with a Master of Arts in educational administration in 1974, also at the College of Idaho. He subsequently concluded his academic efforts with Boise State University, graduating with a Master of Public Administration in 1978. Furthermore, Mr. Selby is an enrolled agent eligible to practice with the Internal Revenue Service.
Throughout his career, Mr. Selby has been recognized for his contributions, including having been recognized as a Paul Harris fellow. He has been notably presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award and an Outstanding Contributions Award from the Alaska Municipal League and the Distinguished Alumni Award from the College of Idaho. Honored as the Member of the Year from the Kodiak Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Selby has been featured in numerous publications, including multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Politics, Who's Who in the West, Who's Who in the World, and Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America.
