CINCINNATI, OH, June 10, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present William Ellis with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Ellis celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

With nearly 45 years of professional experience to his credit, Mr. Ellis has excelled as the owner of William R. Ellis, LLC, since 2014. Prior to establishing this firm, he worked as a partner with Roetzel and Andress from 2007 to 2014 and with Wood and Lamping, LLP, from 1984 to 2007. From 1979 to 1984, he found success as an associate with Waite, Schneider, Bayless, and Chesley. Mr. Ellis began his career as an associate with Leventon and Leventon from 1975 to 1979.

Mr. Ellis initially pursued an education at the University of Dayton, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in 1970. He concluded his studies at Duquesne University, earning a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1975. He served as a crier clerk to Chief Judge Rabe F. March of the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. Mr. Ellis has been admitted to practice law in Ohio and Pennsylvania, as well as before the Supreme Court of the United States and has appeared in court or tried cases pro hac vice in 12 other states.

From an initial start in general practice in Pittsburgh, Mr. Ellis was given the opportunity to defend a Cincinnati harbor service company in Federal Court in Pittsburgh. The case and result came to the attention of a Cincinnati law firm and Mr. Ellis moved to Cincinnati to specialize in defense of Jones Act cases along the Ohio River. Once in Cincinnati, the practice grew to include, life and disability insurance defense, toxic tort defense, product defense, and even a few Plaintiff's cases. A respected voice in his areas of interest, Mr. Ellis has been affiliated with a number of organizations in his community. He is a member of the Cincinnati Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar Association, Defense Research Institute, and the Saint Jerome Parish. Mr. Ellis has been a speaker and authored papers for ABA continuing legal education seminars and NBI seminars. He has presented a "witness preparation program" of his creation, to seminars sponsored by the Chemical Manufacturer's Association, the maritime industry and the insurance industry as well as to college classes, and to a post graduate class of forensic psychology students.

Throughout his career, Mr. Ellis has been celebrated for his contributions to the field of law. Maintaining an AV-Rating by Martindale Hubbell, he has been recognized as a Super Lawyer for more than 15 consecutive years. Likewise, Mr. Ellis has been featured in numerous publications, including multiple editions of Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in America, and Who's Who in American Law.

Over the course of his practice, in order to better understand the business of his clients, Mr. Ellis learned firsthand how to work in a window factory, work on a towboat, pilot a boat, fly an airplane, harden steel, investigate fires and explosions, work in a chemistry lab, and to evaluate insurance claims.

"Much of the credit for my success is due to my mentors. My father and Judge Marsh taught me to think, and to see and recognize legal issues and to be professional and ethical, in addition, non-legal experts played a big role in enabling me to confidently speak about factual and technical issues in court. Bill Kinzeler educated me in the practical aspects of Maritime transportation, taking time with me on tow boats teaching me the trade, equipment, practical science and the jobs of the people involved. Numerous other experts took the time to teach me medicine, psychology, chemistry, fire and explosion, and insurance law. I learned early on not to talk about anything in a court room that I hadn't learned firsthand and these people taught me what I needed to learn. Credit should also be shared with my older partners like Hal Korbee and David Caldwell who fine-tuned my tactical skills and several brilliant associates who worked with me over the years, all of whom are now exceptional attorneys in their own rite."

Mr. Ellis' practice was almost exclusively in the field of defense of civil cases, but of the few Plaintiff's cases he handled, one resulted in a seven-figure settlement and two others resulted in seven-figure jury verdicts.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, William Ellis has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
