With nearly 40 years of professional experience to his credit, Mr. Ponader spent almost his entire career with Bose McKinney & Evans in Indianapolis. Joining the firm in 1958, he served as a seior partner for over three decades until his retirement as senior partner in 1995. Earlier in his career, he cultivated his expertise with Baker & Daniels (now known as Faegre Baker Daniels LLP) from 1956 to 1958. Impressively, Mr. Ponader helped to co-author UNIGOV, which was the Indiana statute that created the consolidated city of Indianapolis.
Alongside his primary career responsibilities, Mr. Ponader has contributed his skills to a number of other professional and civic endeavors. A president of the Greater Indianapolis Housing Development Corporation and the Indianapolis Housing Loan Fund, Inc., from 1976 to 1978, he also held the same role with the Episcopal Community Services, Inc., from 1976 to 1977. Mr. Ponader has also contributed his skills to the Greater Indianapolis Progress Committee, the Mayor's Housing and Relocation Task Force, the License Review Board and the Episcopal Diocese of Indianapolis, among others.
Pursuing an education at the University of Indiana, Mr. Ponader earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1953 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence, with distinction, in 1956. Following these accomplishments, he was licensed to practice law by the Florida Bar and the Indiana State Bar. In an effort to remain up to date with developments in his field, Mr. Ponader prior to his retirement in 1995 maintained professional affiliation with the American Bar Association, the Indiana State Bar Association, the Florida Bar Association, and the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, among myriad other organizations.
In light of his excellence in his career, Mr. Ponader has been the recipient of a number of honors and accolades. Elected to the Order of the Coif as a law graduate in 1956, he was more recently recognized as Sagamore of the Wabash by former Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels. As a testament to his longevity in the field, Mr. Ponader was featured in the fifth and ninth editions of Who's Who in American Law.
