Dr. Moffet is a retired pediatrician and a longtime professor of pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Working in academia for over 40 years, he worked as a teacher at the Bowman Gray School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, N.C. from 1957 to 1960. He later found success in the same position at Northwestern University in Chicago until 1968. Over the course of his career in education, Dr. Moffet enjoyed interacting with students, particularly her experiences teaching residents and other medical doctors in the field.
Specializing in both pediatrics and infectious diseases, Dr. Moffet notably excelled as the head the division of infectious diseases at the Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago from 1963 to 1971.
Throughout his career, he has authored several books, including "Moffet's Board Review for Pediatric Infectious Diseases" in 2019, a book that offers pediatric residents, fellows and practitioners a new, effective method of study that is both affordable and self-paced. A first-of-its-kind review tool that prepares students for the board exam, it also prepares these budding medical professionals for the challenges they'll encounter in taking care of children with infections. Dr. Moffet also co-authored the fifth edition of "Moffet's Pediatric Infectious Diseases" in 2017, an autobiography titled "A Dissident Doctor" in 2012, and articles in several editions of Clinical Microbiology and Pediatric Infectious Diseases in 1975.
Dr. Moffet has been featured in several editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in Science and Engineering and Who's Who in the Midwest. He notably earned a Bachelor's degree from Harvard University in 1953 and a Doctor of Medicine from Yale University in 1957. While pursuing his medical degree, Dr. Moffet was inspired to pursue his specific area of medicine by Dr. Henry Cramblet, a virologist with whom he studied under during his residency. Between 1953 and 1968, Dr. Moffet also completed service as a captain in the U.S. Army Reserve.
