Nicholas O. Berry, Ph.D., Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

    ANNAPOLIS, MD, June 13, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Nicholas O. Berry, Ph.D., with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Berry celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. Dr. Berry commenced his career as an officer with the United States Navy, after he started out with IBM as a computer teacher. Enjoying teaching, he also developed a passion for politics from a young age. Attending Bethany College in Bethany, West Virginia, he received a Bachelor of Arts in 1958 followed by a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Pittsburgh in 1967. While at the University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Berry was asked to be the assistant to the vice chancellor, which was a prestigious position.

At the inception of his career, Dr. Berry served as a professor of politics at Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa, from 1970 to 1982. During this time, he also ran for mayor of the city of Mount Vernon, winning by 18 votes. Serving as mayor for four years, he subsequently became an area Democratic Party leader while at Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pennsylvania, from 1982 to 1999. Dr. Berry concluded his career in 2002 after serving as a senior analyst for the Center for Defense Information in Washington, D.C., since 1999.

During his tenure at Ursinus College, Dr. Berry was a Fulbright Lecturer at the University of Auckland in New Zealand in 1986. He also directed the website www.foreignpolicyforum.com from 2002 to 2016. In light of his many accomplishments, he received an honorary Juris doctor from Bethany College. Dr. Berry was also highlighted in the 17th edition of Who's Who in the World.

Married to Janet Berry, a part-time actress, Dr. Berry is the proud father of two daughters, Lynn and Stephanie. Lynn worked for 22 years in Russia as the editor of the Moscow Times, and thereafter as an editor and Bureau Chief with the Associated Press. Additionally, Dr. Berry's daughter Stephanie is a wine specialist and his grandson Nicolas is an accomplished dentist.
