Enrico Alfonso Prata has directed the Adult and Continuing Education Department of the Caldwell-West Caldwell Board of Education in New Jersey since 1984.

With 52 years of industry experience to his credit, Mr. Prata has directed the Adult and Continuing Education Department of the Caldwell-West Caldwell Board of Education in New Jersey since 1984. He began his teaching career as a biology teacher at Essex Catholic High School in Newark, New Jersey, in 1967, remaining in this position for four years before transferring to the Caldwell-West Caldwell Board of Education from 1971 to 1984. During this time, Mr. Prata also supervised the board's Adult and Continuing Education Department from 1975 to 1984.

Prior to embarking on his professional path, Mr. Prata survived the sinking of the S.S. Andrea Doria on July 25, 1956 at just 11 years old. Later on, he pursued a formal education at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, in Camden, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1967. He then attended Montclair State University, where he received a Master of Arts in 1970. He went on to obtain a certificate in management of lifelong education from Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in 1990. Additionally, Mr. Prata is a certified secondary teacher and school administrator in the state of New Jersey.

Active in his local community, Mr. Prata was the summer program director of the Essex County Division of Parks and Recreation in Newark from 1970 to 1982 and chairman of the Essex County Adult Education Council from 1987 to 1988. He has also served on the board of directors for the Essex Literacy Consortium in Montclair, New Jersey, since 1988 and the Youth Employment Service of West Essex in West Caldwell, New Jersey, since 1990. A prolific writer, Mr. Prata has authored many pamphlets and contributed myriad articles to professional journals. Furthermore, he was a contributing editor for "Fishing in New Jersey" in 1977.

Outside of his primary trade, Mr. Prata keeps updated of trends in his field through affiliations with numerous organizations. He served the New Jersey Association of Lifelong Learning as vice president from 1989 to 1990 and as president from 1991 to 1992. Likewise, Mr. Prata has maintained involvement with the West Essex Chamber of Commerce, the American Association for Adult and Continuing Education, and Phi Delta Kappa.

In light of his exceptional undertakings, Mr. Prata was a grantee of the New Jersey Department of Education from 1986 to 1993, the United Way from 1991 to 1992, and the Partnership Against Illiteracy from 1992 to 1993. Moreover, he was selected for inclusion in the third edition of Who's Who in American Education and the 23rd edition of Who's Who in the East. Today, Mr. Prata resides in New Jersey with his loving wife of five decades, Charlotte A. Prata, with whom he has raised one wonderful son, Carl Anthony. Through his son, he is a doting grandfather to three beloved grandsons: Matthew, Nicholas and Channing.
