With more than 45 years of professional experience, Dr. Grenzebach retired in 2014, having been the technical and certification manager of the British Standards Institution since 1995. Prior to obtaining these positions, he served Applied Management Consultants from 1989 to 1990 and again from 1992 to 1995, and he was a senior nuclear engineer with the Yankee Atomic Electric Company from 1990 to 1992. From 1987 to 1989, he was a research associate at Northeastern University, and from 1981 to 1985, he was a project manager with SEDCO, Inc. Additionally, from 1978 to 1981, he was a subsea engineer with Ocean Drilling & Exploration Company. Earlier in his career, Dr. Grenzebach was an engineering technician with Sylvester Associates from 1977 to 1978 and a manager with Greyhound Lines East from 1970 to 1977.

Dr. Grenzebach began his career as a student at Grinnell College, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in 1967. He then joined Brandeis University, completing a Master of Arts in 1970. He continued his studies with the university, earning a Doctor of Philosophy in comparative history in 1978. He later studied at Boston University, where he received a Master of Science in engineering in 1988, simultaneously earning a Master of Science in industrial engineering at Northeastern University the same year. He holds certifications in offshore drilling, offshore rescuing, and environmental auditing.

A respected voice in his industry, Dr. Grenzebach has been an active leader in his community. He is a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Nuclear Society, and the American Society of Quality. He has also been affiliated with the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers, the Society for Risk Analysis, the Society for the History of Technology, and the Statistical Process Control Society. In addition, he has authored myriad articles in professional journals, including the paper "Reactor Coolant Expert System," which won the Copywrite Award in 1990.

Throughout his career, Dr. Grenzebach has been recognized for his contributions. He has been named a fellow of the University of California, San Diego, Brandeis University, the German Academic Exchange Service, and the Institute for European History. He has also been featured in numerous honors publications, including Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in the East and Who's Who in the World. However, he is most renowned for his position as a team member on the discovery of three major oil fields in Norway and Canada.
