Anthony Barbera has found success as the assistant vice president for academic affairs with the State University of New York at Old Westbury since 2009.

With more than 40 years of accrued experience, Mr. Barbera has found success as the assistant vice president for academic affairs with the State University of New York at Old Westbury since 2009. Additionally, he has contributed to the university as an assistant professor since 2004. He began his tenure with the university as a visiting assistant professor in 1996. Furthermore, he held the posts of instructor, director of internships, placement and administration, interim dean and dean of the School of Business, and interim assistant vice president of academic affairs between 1997 and 2015.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Barbera served as a graduate assistant and assistant professor with St. John's University in Jamaica, New York, between 1985 and 1996. From 1977 to 1984, he was associated with the professional service firm PwC in New York City, for which he worked as a staff accountant, a senior accountant, and an audit manager. An expert in the field, he has contributed articles to professional and academic journals.

Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Barbera attended St. John's University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science, summa cum laude, in 1977. He concluded his academic pursuits after receiving a Master of Business Administration in 1987. In addition, Mr. Barbera became a certified public accountant in the state of New York (now Inactive). To remain current with educational and accounting trends, Mr. Barbera maintained professional alignment with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Decision Sciences Institute, the Securities Industry Association, the American Accounting Association, and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants.

As a testament to his success, Mr. Barbera has received numerous honors and accolades. A recipient of the William R. Donaldson Award from the Catholic Accountants Guild of the Diocese of Brooklyn, he was presented with fellowships from the City University of New York and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Likewise, he was selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the East and Who's Who in the World.
