Initially interested in art as a career path, Mr. Purdy excelled throughout the late 1970s and the early 1980s as an artist after turning down a fellowship offer from Stanford University. In 1986, he established his own company in San Diego, California, which focused on publishing educational material and for which he served as the president until 1990. Subsequently, he worked as an estate planner for Sagemark Consulting in San Diego. In between his professional endeavors, Mr. Purdy also contributed to his areas of expertise as a public speaker and a writer.
In 1974, Mr. Purdy graduated from the University of Redlands with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy. He has additionally received certifications in financial planning. Creatively inclined, he has produced and sold numerous paintings and photographs during his artistic journey. As an author, Mr. Purdy's publications include "A Brief History of the Earth and Mankind," "A Brief History of Mankind," and "The More You Learn, the Worse It Gets: A Defense of Nature."
While his career was filled with several highlights, Mr. Purdy found joy in his art and his ability to open the eyes of others to larger perspectives through personal interactions, books and speaking engagements. An exceptional Marquis listee, Mr. Purdy has been selected for inclusion in several editions of Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the West, and Who's Who in the World. Now retired, Mr. Purdy enjoys photography, music, traveling, investment analysis, environmental studies and backgammon during his spare time.
