Ms. Caldwell celebrates a career built over the span of more than 40 years to promote social mobility and civic participation. She began her professional journey as a legal secretary for Kleinfield, Kaplan & Becker in Washington, D.C., from 1974 to 1976. Thereafter, she joined Smith & Howard Associates for two years, whereupon she moved north for a brief appointment as an administrative manager and corporate treasurer for Common Brothers USA in New York. Ms. Caldwell continued her career as administrative assistant to the executive director, then supervisor of automobile equipment for New Jersey Transit Corp., where she remained from 1980 to 1985.

Following a short time spent as an independent contractor, Ms. Caldwell joined the staff of Budd Lamer Gross Rosenbaum Greenberg & Sade in 1988 as a member of the legal team in Cipollone v. Philip Morris, et al. Five years 1ater, she pursued a part-time role as the campaign manager to successfully elect Corrina Kay Williams in 1993. Ms. Caldwell joined the U.S. District Court for New Jersey in Newark initially working under the tutelage of The Honorable Ronald J. Hedges as the mediation administrator and later as manager of chamber operations for district judge, the Honorable Joseph A. Greenaway, Jr. She departed from the court in 2002, to dedicate herself full time to the passion that had animated her even from a young age: helping others.

Ms. Caldwell established lnHim Charities, Inc. in 1997. In 2002, she was elected Executive Director/CEO of Tri-City People's Corp., a community charity aimed at spurring community development in Newark, East Orange, and Irvington. Additionally, she worked as an adjunct professor at Gibbs College from 2003 -2008. Professional affiliations include Treasurer of the Newark Community Development Network, Executive Vice President of the Conference for Minority Transportation Officials and National Secretary of the Railway Automotive Management Association. In the past, Ms. Caldwell's local associations have included presidency of the Essex County Council of Parent-Teacher Associations from 1996 to 2002, Chairwoman of East Orange Unified Council of PTAs/PTOs and holding various leadership positions in the East Orange YMCA, East Orange Police Athletic League and the East Orange League of Women Voters.

For her myriad of contributions to the social fabric of her community, Ms. Caldwell has been the recipient of numerous accolades, such as a co=unity service award from the Essex County Board Chosen Freeholders in 1998, the NJ Assembly in 1998, the Second Ward Unsung Hero award in 1997, and the recognition as Ward Woman of the Year by the East Orange City Council in 1993. Possessed with endless drive for civic engagement, Ms. Caldwell has inspired other community members to actively work toward sustainable redevelopment in their respective neighborhoods.
