Dr. Ladman, professor emeritus at The Ohio State University (OSU), is an economist who has devoted his professional career to studying economic development in Latin America, undertaking research and leading projects in numerous countries including living abroad on three occasions. His research has focused on rural agricultural development, the United States-Mexico border economy, the political economies of Bolivia and Mexico and Mexican internal migration. His work has been published in numerous professional journals and he is author or editor/co-editor of five books: "Mexico, a Country in Crisis," "The Development of Mexicali Regional Economy," "United States-Mexican Energy Relationships: Realities and Prospects," "The Economic Impact of the Border Industrialization Program: A Study of Agua Prieta, Sonora" and "Modern Day Bolivia: The Legacy of the Revolution and Prospects for the Future."

Prior to OSU he was on the faculty at Arizona State University (ASU) for 22 years. In addition to his academic work he has distinguished himself in numerous administrative and leadership positions. He served OSU as Associate Provost for International Affairs, director of the Ohio LEAD Program and director of the Center for Latin American Studies, the latter a position he also held at ASU. He was a member of numerous academic organizations and served as president of the Pacific Coast Council for Latin American Studies and the Borderlands Studies Association. He was a Fulbright Scholar in Ecuador, assistant program director for the Ford Foundation in Mexico, visiting scholar at the Stanford University Food Research Institute and named Honorary Professor at the Catholic University of Bolivia, At the beginning of his career, Dr. Ladman served to the rank of captain in the U.S. Army Reserve while simultaneously working at Iowa State University's College of Agriculture as a placement officer and a research assistant. Dr. Ladman has also found success through his work with the U.S. Department of State, the United States Agency for International Development, the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the World Bank.

Dr. Ladman pursued an education at Iowa State University (ISU), earning a Bachelor of Science in 1958 and a Doctor of Philosophy in 1968. During his spare time, he enjoys Latin American literature and art, provides his time and resources to his community as a docent at the Columbus Museum of Art and the Columbus Council on World Affairs where he was a board member for 15 years. Although his career has been filled with highlights, Dr. Ladman is especially proud of being chosen for his leadership roles at ASU and OSU as well as being elected president of his senior class at ISU. He was selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who in America and Who's Who in the West. Looking toward the future, Dr. Ladman intends to enjoy his well-deserved retirement.
