Dale M. Berry Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Ms. Berry has been endorsed by Marquis Who's Who as a leader in the fields of physical and higher education



The recipient of an Advisor Excellence Award from Michigan State University in 2017 and a Kentucky Excel Award from WHAS-TV Channel 11 in 2000, Ms. Berry was also named K-12 Alumni Teacher of the Year

    ZEELAND, MI, June 27, 2019 -- Ms. Berry, a physical education specialist of many years, is currently active as a visiting professor of physical education in the department of movement science at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan. Taking on her new role in 2011, she formerly spent 38 years at various high schools across Indiana and Kentucky as both a specialist and coach, including Richmond High School, Mississinewa Junior High School and Pierceton Middle School in Indiana and Bloomfield Elementary School in Kentucky.

Authoring articles for Great Activities Magazine in 1998, Ms. Berry has also spent time involved with cross country, track, the jump rope team and the ski club at Floyds Knobs Elementary in New Albany, Indiana, between 1994 and 2011. Furthermore, she is a longtime member of Shape America, Shape Michigan, In-Shape, the National Education Association and the Michigan State University Alumni Association. Ms. Berry has also been serving on the alumni board of College of Education at Michigan State University and has been instrumental with Kids in Motion.

Known for her volunteer work, Ms. Berry has been on the fundraising team for Raiser Harbor Humane Society since 2011. She also captained her local Relay for Life team and was involved with the American Cancer Society in New Albany and the American Red Cross in Louisville, Kentucky. From 1995 to 2005, Ms. Berry was active as a choir member with the Southeast Christian Church as well.

The recipient of an Advisor Excellence Award from Michigan State University in 2017 and a Kentucky Excel Award from WHAS-TV Channel 11 in 2000, Ms. Berry was also named K-12 Alumni Teacher of the Year by Michigan State University in 2007 and In-Shape Elementary Physical Education Teacher of the Year in 1998. She has also been cited in the 26th and 27th editions of Who's Who of American Women.

Born in Jackson, Michigan, Ms. Berry grew up playing sports. Involved in the Girls Athletic Association, she considers her high school physical education teacher to be a great mentor of hers. Embarking on further education at Michigan State University, she earned a Bachelor of Science in physical education in 1972, followed by a Master of Arts in physical education at Ball State University in Indiana in 1975. Completing postgraduate coursework at Indiana University and Purdue University in 1982, she concluded her studies with 30 additional credits toward a second Master of Arts at Western Kentucky University in 1992. A certified physical education and health teacher of grades K-12 and certified social studies teacher of grades 7-12, she has also been certified as a CPR and first aid instructor through the American Red Cross.
