Doris Elizabeth Lehmann Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

An accomplished listee, Ms. Lehmann celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. Now retired, Ms. Lehmann devoted more than three decades of her career to the field of education in the state of New Jersey. She began her professional endeavors in 1955 at the School Street School in Ramsey, and later acted as a bedside instructor for North Bergen County Schools from 1966 to 1971. She joined the Edith A. Bogert School in Upper Saddle River in 1971, devoting 29 years to her position there until her official retirement in 2000. During those years she stated a pen pal relationship with the Hopi Second Mesa Day School. She and her husband traveled there each April to deliver gifts made by the Upper Saddle River children and to visit the Second Mesa teachers who came to New Jersey as the Lehmann's guests for a week every few years to show the New Jersey group their customs and beliefs. May Upper Saddle River families later visited Second Mesa, AZ to cement the children's friendships.

An elected fellow of the Upper Saddle River Education Association, Ms. Lehmann also served as the organization's social secretary and vice president. She is a longtime member of the New Jersey Education Association and the New Jersey North Education Association. Further, she has acted as a liaison for the Upper Saddle River Historical Society since 1986 and a member of the VFW Auxiliary as a historian and secretary since 2007. Ms. Lehmann is a life member, former treasurer, and former vice president of Alpha Omicron Pi, and is closely alighted with the Mahwah Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Chapter 7124. In fact, she was the Mahwah auxiliary's first vice president from 1994 to 2008. Finally, she has long served as a Native American consultant for the Bergen County Museum of Art and Science in Paramus, New Jersey, since 1983.

Ms. Lehmann is an alumna of Wagner College, from which she earned a Bachelor of Science in education, magna cum laude, in 1955. She also attended William Patterson University in 1971, Columbia University from 1988 to 1991, and Jersey City State College in 1990.

A published author, Ms. Lehmann co-authored "Curriculum for Values Education in New Jersey" in 1991. A distinguished Marquis listee, she has been included in dozens of editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in the World, and Who's Who of American Women.
