PLEASANTON, CA, July 05, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Harold Kenneth Strunk, DrPH, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Strunk celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Dr. Strunk is a retired insurance company executive and naval officer who spent the latter portion of his career as a regional manager of hospital relations for Blue Shield of California in San Francisco between 1987 and 1995. Originally running the 18-year-old boys' unit at Orange County Juvenile Hall in California while working toward his degree in social work, Dr. Struck changed his major to experimental psychology and eventually followed a path that included a master's degree in psychiatric social work. However, after some time, he realized that the field wasn't right for him and, thanks to the mentorship of a man by the name of Dr. Katz, Dr. Strunk began taking public health courses and immediately fell in love with the field.
Prior to his tenure with Blue Shield of California, Dr. Strunk was a physician recruiter for a hospital staffing company in Pleasanton, California. He also worked as a senior health planner and hospital administrator in Saudi Arabia for five years for Arabian Bechtel and for the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Defense, where he served as a hospital administrator. Dr. Strunk formerly served in various roles for several other organizations as well, including for a division of Blue Cross Blue Shield, the Professional Services Review Organizations Support Center for California, the United Health Foundation Medical Center and the Alameda County Health Department beginning in 1972. In 1978 he qualified Blue Cross of Northern California's HMO, Take Care.
Dr. Strunk published "A Guidebook of Infectious and Communicable Diseases of the Arabian Peninsula" for the United States Central Command and "Basic Arabic: Getting Around" for the United States Navy and Marines. He has also contributed several articles to various professional journals and has published several short stories on Amazon Kindle.
An alumnus of California State University Fullerton, Dr. Strunk received a Bachelor of Arts in psychology in 1967. He soon after attended the University of California Los Angeles, where he completed Master of Arts in Social Welfare in 1969, Master of Public Health in 1970 and Doctor of Public Health in 1972. Prior to earning his degrees, Dr. Strunk studied at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He also served in the military after being drafted into the United States Army, served in the Army National Guard, 441st Field Artillery, and spent 18 years retiring as a captain in the United States Naval Reserve between 1977 and 1995. He was recalled for Desert Storm and served in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. Upon his return, Captain Strunk was assigned as a Navy project officer for chemical and biological weapons defense.
Dr. Strunk is a member of several industry-related organizations, including the California Association of Healthcare Leaders (formerly known as Healthcare Executives of Northern California), the Middle East Institute, the American Public Health Association, the Association of the United States Navy (formerly known as the Naval Reserve Officers Association), and the World Affairs Councils of America. He is also active with several societies related to his military history, such as Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States and the American Legion. A celebrated Marquis listee, Dr. Strunk is featured in the 22nd edition of Who's Who in the West.
In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Dr. Strunk has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
