During his illustrious career, Dr. Klotter authored and co-authored 20 books, such as "William Goebel: Politics of Wrath," "A New History of Kentucky" and "Henry Clay: The Man Who Would Be President," which was published in 2018.

To prepare for his career, Dr. Klotter pursued formal education at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in 1968, a Master of Arts in 1969 and a Doctor of Philosophy in 1975.
