OKLAHOMA CITY, OK, July 10, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Franklin Dewees Barnett, MD, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Barnett celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

After completing his medical internship at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, KS, he enlisted as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force and practice as a medical officer from 1962 to July 1964. Following his tour in the Air Force, he honed his expertise in obstetrics and gynecology though a three-year residency (1964-1967) at the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center. From there he started his private practice (1967) at the Midwest City Memorial Hospital, Oklahoma. While there, he served as the chief of obstetrics and gynecology on many occasions and subsequently served as Chief of Staff for the hospital. Before retiring, he worked in private practice in Midwest City, OK, for more than 30 years. Although his career has been filled with highlights, he is especially proud of delivering approximately 8,000 babies and hearing back from many of them regarding how well they are doing.

An expert in his field, Dr. Barnett holds a Bachelor of Science from Asbury College (now University). Since he worked his way through college by delivering 300 or more newspapers daily by bicycle and walking (no car), he finished his college education in three years. During the year before starting his medical school training, he taught Chemistry and Mathematics at Harrodsburg High School in Harrodsburg, KY. He then earned a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Kansas. To remain abreast of changes in the field, he maintains affiliation with the American Medical Association, the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists. In spite of his busy medical practice, he elected to contribute to the town of Midwest City as a Councilman for one term from 1988 to 1992. During his term, he was given the opportunity to serve as a vice Mayor. After one term as a City Councilman, he elected not to seek re-election and concentrate on his medical practice. After retiring in 2000, he continued practicing medicine by covering a medical practice in Enid, OK for 14 months when the practicing obstetrician there was called up for active military service (2003-2004). To stay busy in his well-deserved retirement Dr. Barnett continues his active membership in Rotary where he has over 48 years of perfect attendance. He also has been on the Oklahoma Blood Institute for more than 38 years and is presently on the local YMCA Board. Lastly, he stays very active in his local church and presently he serves as the Lay Leader.

For fun, he and his wife, Scotty, love traveling including RVing until 2013 when they sold their motor home, and having activities with their children, grandchildren and two great grandchildren as well socializing with their many friends.
In light of his outstanding achievements, Dr. Barnett was honored in the first edition of Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare and the 22nd edition of Who's Who in the South and Southwest. He credits his success to his religious faith; he could have never accomplished his achievements and successes without the inspiration and grace of God. In the near future, Dr. Barnett intends to continue enjoying his well-deserved retirement.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Franklin Dewees Barnett, MD, has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
