With more than 40 years in corporate management and directing, Mr. Scerno has become an authority in his industry. Presently, he serves as the president of SJM Holdings Ltd. and the managing director of Joseph B. Scerno Associates in Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania. Active in these roles since 2002 and 1997 respectively, he began his career as the general manager and vice president of the Express Haulage Corp. in New York City from 1959 to 1962. Going on to serve as the assistant vice president of industrial relations at the Technical Material Corp. from 1962 to 1966, Mr. Scerno then became the vice president of industrial relations for the Occidental Petroleum Corp. from 1966 to 1972.

Mr. Scerno attained the role of vice president of personnel at the NYU Langone Medical Center Hospital for Joint Diseases from 1972 to 1974 before becoming the director and vice president of employee government community relations for Intext Inc. from 1974 to 1979. Following these opportunities, he joined GBP Industries as the vice president of human resources from 1979 to 1984 and the Coastal Corp. Ltd. as the vice president of human resources from 1984 to 1988. Mr. Scerno went on to achieve the role of commissioner Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service in Washington, D.C., from 1988 until 1997.

Prior to becoming an esteemed management professional, Mr. Scerno served in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1957 before going on to pursue higher education. Going on to earn a Bachelor of Science in personnel management from New York University in 1962, he obtained certification as a senior practitioner in human resources management from the HR Certification Institute in 1975. Concluding his studies with a Master of Arts in counseling from Marywood University in Pennsylvania in 1977, Mr. Scerno cultivated his years of experience and education to author the book "Managing from the 21st Century and Beyond: Human Centered Facilitative Management" in 1997.

Outside of his professional responsibilities, Mr. Scerno remains informed of the changes and advancements in his industry through relevant organizations. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Society, the New York Academy of Sciences, the Air Force Association, the Academy of American Poets, the Tennessee Squires Association and American Legion. Likewise, Mr. Scerno was active as the regional director of Society for Human Resource Management from 1979 to 1982 and the president of Zeta Beta Tau in 1960.

In light of his many achievements in the field, Mr. Scerno has received a number of awards and accolades throughout his career. Notably, he has been recognized as an honorary Kentucky Colonel by the governor of Kentucky. He has previously been featured in several editions of Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in the East and Who's Who in the World. The proud father of two sons, Mr. Scerno enjoys golfing, traveling, sailing and writing in his free time.
