Donald Eugene Rowe Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

    SOUTH BEND, IN, July 12, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Donald Eugene Rowe with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Rowe celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. Supported by 40 years of professional experiences. Mr. Rowe excelled as Senior Counsel and Professional Campaign Director with American City Bureau in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, between 1982 and 2001. He began his YMCA career in 1961 with the YMCA of the USA, as an assistant youth director with the Metropolitan YMCA South Bend Mishawaka Corporation, and within a year was promoted and accepted the professional staff position of family and youth director from 1962-1964 with the Mishawaka Family YMCA that is not in existence today. Don then returned to the South Bend YMCA as the senior youth director from 1964-1966. During this time he was recognized as a YMCA Youth Director in the USA that had over 10,000 youth affiliated and coordinated programs. He than began his continued YMCA experiences with the Racine Family YMCA in 1966. While working with the Racine YMCA organization, he also had 10,000 youth in his connected youth programs, and also served as Associate Director, and the Executive CEO before departing in 1982. From 1986 to 1989 he returned to the Metropolitan YMCA of South Bend-Mishawaka as their Executive Director-CEO. During this time he changed the name of the YMCA's Corporate organization to the YMCA OF MICHIANA, and received unanimous approval from the YMCA's Board of Directors.

A graduate of Manchester College, now Manchester University, Mr. Rowe earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology, and also received an Indiana teacher's license in health and physical education in 1961. He did his '"student teaching" in Warsaw, Indiana. He also additionally secured a professional YMCA staff certification for serving the YMCA of the USA from George Williams College of Aurora University in Williams Bay, Wisconsin.

Throughout his career, Mr. Rowe also placed emphasis on developing international partnerships involving children's and youth leaderships through the YMCA World Service. A true activist and lover of philanthropic and people-focused activities, Mr. Rowe is gratified to have volunteered as a mentor for more than eight young men in the United States, as well as establish relationships with other organizations including Feed My Starving Children, Time to Revive, Transformation Ministries, Metro-World Child, Real Services, and Step By Step, among several others.

Many other career endeavors to Mr. Rowe's credit include serving as a consultant and campaign director for the Salvation Army, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Greensburg, and Kenmore Mercy Hospital between 1991-1994. He also served as the Campaign Director and Consultant in raising over 34 million for the Archdiocese of Boston Catholic Parishes. He also was the Campaign Director/Consultant for Ball Memorial Hospital's Cancer Center in Muncie, Indiana. Civically, Mr. Rowe has dedicated his time as a member of Nappanee Missionary Church by supporting "mission partnerships" in the USA and different countries. While living in Racine Wisconsin Donald Eugene Rowe was elected President of the Racine Rotary Club, and he and his wife attended the Rotary International New President's Conference in Rome, Italy.

A three-time recipient of the Paul Harris Distinguished Fellowship Award from Rotary International, Mr. Rowe was also presented with the Distinguished Service Award from the YMCA of Southeast Wisconsin and the Outstanding Service Award from Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. To remain aware of community activities, he maintains a relationship with the South Bend Rotary Club, and the South Bend Alumni Association when the SBAA was actively engaged. Now retired, he enjoys swimming, reading, watching sports, attending family events, and assisting others to achieve their personal dreams in his spare time, by serving as an "encourager" with leaders and potential leaders. Also during his career he had the community privilege and opportunity to nominate three candidates to be selected by the "40 Under 40" organization's award winners. All three of Mr. Rowe's nominees became winners!

Donald Eugene Rowe in 2019 has been married for 58 years. Both he and his wife met at Manchester College, now Manchester University, and were married in the early 1960's. His wife's name is Barbara Anne Rowe and she was a Sociology Major, editor of the "Oak Leaves" college newspaper, and was selected for Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities.
