A native of Dhaka, Bangladesh, Dr. Jamaluddin is the Principal Technical Consultant for Comprehensive Heater Support, LLC – a consulting company he formed upon retirement from Shell Global Solutions, Inc., in October 2014. Prior to that, he worked in Shell as an Advisor, Combustion and Heat Transfer Engineering since 2004; and as a Senior Heat Transfer Specialist for Shell Deer Park Refining Company from January 1997 till the later part of 2004. He had joined Shell as a Senior Research Engineer at the Westhollow Research Center in 1990.

Dr. Jamaluddin started his professional journey within the USA as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Combustion Laboratory in Brigham Young University, and was actively involved in the Advanced Combustion Engineering Research Center (ACERC), jointly hosted by Brigham Young University and the University of Utah, with funding from the National Science Foundation (NSF).

He later joined Babcock and Wilcox Company as a Senior Research Engineer to pursue industrial research. To maintain awareness of new developments and trends in the industry, Dr. Jamaluddin maintained memberships in the American Petroleum Institute and The Combustion Institute; and was also associated with the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and Sigma-Xi Scientific Research Society during his academic research days.

Earlier in his career, Dr. Jamaluddin contributed as a Sales Engineer for Bangladesh Oxygen Limited (a subsidiary of the British Oxygen Company), from 1972 till 1974; and later as a Cathodic Protection Engineer for Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company (TGTDC) between 1975 and 1978; and a Senior Production Engineer for Petrobangla (Bangladesh Oil and Gas Corporation - BOGC) from 1978 till 1981.

In-between jobs in Bangladesh, Dr. Jamaluddin pursued a M.Sc. Engineering (Chemical) degree at the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), at first as a full-time Graduate Research Scholar between 1974 and 1975, and later as a part-time graduate fellow while working full-time for TGTDC and BOGC. His B.Sc. Engineering (Chemical) degree was also from BUET in 1972. He completed his Master's degree in 1980.

Throughout his impressive career, Dr. Jamaluddin has participated in other professional endeavors. He reviewed technical papers for ASME Journal of Heat Transfer, AIAA Journal of Thermophysics and Heat Transfer, and Industrial Combustion (Journal of the International Flame Research Foundation). He also was a reviewer of the Shell-funded research activities at the Pennsylvania State University and the University of Utah, and served as an evaluator of research proposals for the United States Department of Energy prior to joining Shell. Additional achievements to Dr. Jamaluddin's credit include serving as the Chairman of the American Petroleum Institute's Sub-Committee on Heat Transfer Equipment, introducing and testing several innovative technologies in Shell refineries and chemical plants, leading the Shell Thermography Team that developed and applied advanced thermal imaging techniques, and serving as the leader of Shell Fired Heat Transfer Team.

For his accomplishments thus far, Dr. Jamaluddin has been presented with the Presidential Award of Excellence from Shell in 2004 and 1994, respectively. Additionally, he accepted a total of 12 Special Recognition Awards from Shell in the span of 25 years. Outside of his essential responsibilities Dr. Jamaluddin enjoys reading, listening to music, traveling, and spending time with his family in his spare time.
