Deborah DeWaay Celebrates 10 Years of Professional Excellence in Medical Education Administration and Clinical Medicine

Dr. DeWaay was chosen to be a 2019 Alpha Omega Alpha Fellow in Leadership



For the last three years Dr. Deborah DeWaay has served as the associate dean of undergraduate medical education at the University of South Florida, Morsani College of Medicine.

    TAMPA, FL, July 17, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Deborah DeWaay has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

For more than a decade, Dr. DeWaay has excelled in clinical medicine and medical education administration. For the last three years she has served as the associate dean of undergraduate medical education at the University of South Florida, Morsani College of Medicine. She also serves as a hospitalist in internal medicine. Additionally, she has maintained her involvement as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and the Arnold Gold Humanism in Medicine Society. Over the years, Dr. DeWaay has gained valuable expertise through the AAMC Early Career Women Faculty Professional Development Seminar and the Alliance of Academic Internal Medicine Executive Leadership Program as well. She has the privilege of being chosen to serve as a 2019 Alpha Omega Alpha Fellow in leadership and a 2019 participant in the Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine program.

Certified through the American Board of Internal Medicine since 2008, Dr. DeWaay initially graduated with honors in political science from Grinnell College. She subsequently concluded her academic efforts with a Doctor of Medicine with a concentration in research from the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. From 2005 until 2008, Dr. DeWaay pursued a residency in internal medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina.

Due to her professional achievements, Dr. DeWaay has been presented with many awards over the years, such as the Early Career Physician Award from the South Carolina chapter of the American College of Physicians, the Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award, the MUSC Golden Apple Teaching Award, and Marquis Who's Who Top Doctor recognition, to name a few. In order to remain aware of changes in the field, she is affiliated with the Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine and the American College of Physicians. Looking toward the future, Dr. DeWaay intends to experience continued success in her career at the University of South Florida, Morsani College of Medicine.
