Eric B. Forsyth is an esteemed electrical engineer who most recently served Brookhaven National Laboratory as the chair of the Accelerator Development Department from 1986 until his retirement.

Supported by more than 40 years of practiced experience, Mr. Forsyth is an esteemed electrical engineer who most recently served Brookhaven National Laboratory as the chair of the Accelerator Development Department from 1986 until his retirement in 1990. Prior to this illustrious role, he served the laboratory as a senior engineer from 1977 to 1986, an engineer from 1965 to 1977, an associate engineer from 1962 to 1965 and an assistant engineer from 1960 to 1962. Likewise, Mr. Forsyth is a former research engineer for Canadian Applied Research Ltd., having commenced his career as a research engineer for AVRO Aircraft Ltd. in 1955. He was a RAF fighter pilot in 1957 and achieved a Green Instrument Rating with the rank of Flying Officer. In Canada, he obtained a commercial pilot license for single and multi-engine land and sea planes.

Alongside his primary career responsibilities, Mr. Forsyth was an invited lecturer at the Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan in 1985 and a former member of the National Academy of Sciences Panel on Superconductivity from 1987 to 1988. A fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, he also maintained affiliation with the Bentley Drivers Club, the Seven Seas Cruising Association and the Cruising Club of America.

A registered professional engineer in Canada and Europe, Mr. Forsyth holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Manchester in England and Master of Science from the University of Toronto. An accomplished writer in his field, he has authored approximately 120 technical articles and two books chapters. He is also a patentee in his field. In 2016, Mr. Forsyth published the book "An Inexplicable Attraction: My Fifty Years of Ocean Sailing," which details the five decades he has spent sailing around the world.

As a testament to his success, Mr. Forsyth has accrued several accolades over the years. For his excellence in engineering, he was notably awarded the H. Halperin Award for Power Transmission Research and Development from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. He has also been recognized with a Blue Water Medal from the Cruising Club of America and the Seven Seas Cruising Award. In light of all his accomplishments, Mr. Forsyth has previously been highlighted in the 46th edition of Who's Who in America.
