    LEXINGTON, MA, July 17, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Stella Gladys Uzogara, PhD, CFS, FAND, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Uzogara celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. Dr. Uzogara celebrates close to 40 years in her field as an epidemiologist, a nutrition professor and a food-nutrition researcher. Associated with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health for 12 years as a nutritional epidemiologist, she is still currently active. Prior to her years with the aforementioned government branch, Dr. Uzogara worked as a research and development scientist as well as a bio-analytical chemist at Alkermes, Inc. in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Dr. Uzogara also devoted more than 30 years in an academic setting. She served as an adjunct professor of nutrition at Roxbury Community College in Boston and Middlesex Community College in Bedford, Massachusetts. Likewise, Dr. Uzogara held various faculty appointments at Bentley University in Waltham Massachusetts; she was chair/head of Biochemistry Department at the University of Port Harcourt in Nigeria and food-nutrition researcher and teacher at King's College, University of London, in the United Kingdom (UK).

Involved with multiple projects and programs throughout her career, Dr. Uzogara notably excelled as a principal analyst and epidemiologist for nutrition programing of the Massachusetts Women, Infants and Children and the Massachusetts Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. She was active as a diversity leader for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and a state coordinator and liaison for the Pediatric and Pregnancy Nutrition Surveillance Systems, liaising between the state of Massachusetts and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Dr. Uzogara was also a seminar coordinator and nutrition coach for underserved youth and seniors in Boston. She is a passionate leader for health equity, diversity and inclusion.

On an international level, Dr. Uzogara visited Beijing and Shanghai, China, with the People-to-People Citizen Ambassador Program's professional science and technology group in 2004. She actively participated in Bentley University's international education programs in Bahrain, Brazil and Ghana. She further participated as a zonal leader for the Catholic Women's Organization in Port Harcourt Nigeria, between 1988 and 1993. Her impressive career has led her to contribute her research to scholarly articles for various science journals, including Food Chemistry, Ecology of Food and Nutrition, the Journal of Food Science, Nutrition Research, Public Health Research, Biotechnology Advances and Food Biochemistry. Dr. Uzogara has also authored chapters for several books in her area of expertise. She is also a volunteer abstract paper reviewer for the International Health Program of the American Public Health Association (APHA).

Highly educated, Dr. Uzogara first attended the University of Ibadan in Nigeria where she received a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry in 1975 with honors. She then enrolled at Drexel University in Philadelphia Pennsylvania, where she completed a Master of Science in nutrition science in 1979. Finally, she concluded her studies at the University of London, UK, graduating from King's College London with a Doctor of Philosophy in food science in 1988. Her postgraduate professional training in nutrition and dietetics were completed at Simmons University in Boston and at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. Dr. Uzogara has been designated as a certified food scientist, a registered dietitian nutritionist, a licensed dietitian nutritionist and a certified executive manager and leader.

An elected fellow of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Dr. Uzogara is also a member of several other professional organizations, such as the Institute of Food Technologists, the American Public Health Association, the Nutrition Society of Nigeria and the International Institute of Food Technologists. She further served as the secretary of the Nigerian Association of Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). Moreover, Dr. Uzogara had found success as the chairman of social welfare for the University of Port Harcourt Women's Association as well.

In addition to securing a research grant from the International Foundation for Science (IFS) in Sweden, Dr. Uzogara has received several awards for excellence in teaching, community service award, an Employee of the Month Award, Next- Gen Public Service Award, a Gwendolyn Rossell Continuing Education Award and a Public Policy Panel Award from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. An avid table tennis player, she was celebrated as the Sportswoman of the Year by the University of Ibadan for winning gold medals in table tennis at the Nigerian University Games Championships in 1972. A Silver medalist in table tennis at the West African University Games in Ghana in 1973, Dr. Uzogara has been featured in the 14th edition of Who's Who in the World.
