John Ed Mathison, DMin, Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

    MONTGOMERY, AL, July 17, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present John Ed Mathison, DMin, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Mathison celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. Recognizing his calling when he was just in high school, Dr. Mathison began his career as an assistant minister at Capitol Heights Methodist Church in Montgomery, Alabama, in 1964. He subsequently became a minister at two different churches over the next six years and by 1972 had become a minister at Frazer Memorial United Methodist Church. Over the next 36 years, Dr. Mathison helped grown the congregation exponentially. At his retirement, Dr. Mathison continued to hold Sunday morning worship services at the Atlanta Highway campus. Televised nationwide each week and reaching about 40 million homes, his services were also cybercast live and carried on local radio and television.

In 2008, Dr. Mathison, with the help of several board members, formed the John Ed Mathison Leadership Ministry in Montgomery. A ministry that includes preaching, teaching, conferences and seminars, he focuses his work on training pastors and lay persons. He also records a daily, one-minute audio devotion and writes a weekly inspirational blog.

During his career, Dr. Mathison maintained the largest Sunday School attendance for United Methodist churches in all of America. He was also instrumental in establishing five million churches and winning one billion people to Christ by 2020. He has notably traveled to India on four different occasions to teach pastors as part of the "Billion Soul Initiative."

Dr. Mathison has been a platform speaker at the National Conference of Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the National Hi-Y Tri-Hi-Y Conference and a seminar speaker at the Billy Graham Training Center. A prolific author, he has published 11 books thus far, including "Where is America Heading" in 2015, "Treasures of the Transformed Life" in 1998 and "Every Member in Ministry" in 1989.

Upon graduating from Opelika High School in Opelika, Alabama, Dr. Mathison attended Young Harris Junior College before earning a Bachelor of Arts at Huntingdon College in 1960. He then received a Bachelor of Divinity at Candler School of Theology in 1963, a Master of Theology at Princeton Seminary in 1964 and a Doctor of Ministry at Candler School of Theology in 1978. Dr. Mathison has since also received honorary doctorates from Asbury Seminary, Huntingdon College and Birmingham Southern College.

Named Man of the Year by the Montgomery YMCA in 1978, Dr. Mathison was later named National Clergyman of the Year by The Religious Heritage of America in 1994 and Citizen of the Year in 2006. Frazer was also named the 25th Most Influential Church in America by The Church Reporter in 2006.
